Okay I finished the major weathering with oils. I want to do a wash but I have to seal this stage, so a full day to dry, then seal with a good Satin, actually I think I'll use floor wax - then I should be done.

Did the instructions come with a paint call-out, or do they give you full artistic license in regards to the painting?
I've been thinking about doing mine in a more bronzed/metal version... WITH LEDs

They come with a "suggested" color call out - i.e. Squid - violet, sub - grey. The bronze color would be more in-line with the Time period and had you mentioned it before I painted this, then you'd be looking at a bronze sub instead of some grey tub. A great idea.

I ordered some LED lights for my next SiFi project, just cause I know we will all want me to use them...

I can share all my thoughts with you, if you'd like...
I'm thinking of trying to re-configure the set-up, and have the sub actually submersed in water (somehow/haven't got that far/resin?) and the squid chasing it, or perhaps putting the 'base' on a 90 degree angle - maybe have the ship attached to the squid for support with added metal tubing of some sort. And yes, with a bronze'ish paint job, maybe throw in some gold, duraluminium, maybe some red-bronze panels. Thinking of other ways to steampunk the poop out of it. You've inspired me

Dude - you're killing me! Red bronze panels, gold panels why did you save these ideas until now? I think I might need to re-buy and re-do this kit. Moving the base around - million years I'd still not thought of that!

Yes bought three led lights, and an led strip for my next SiFi kit - which I could have as early as this weekend.

Have come across this years old thread of yours about that really nice Nautilus you built.

What caught my eye in one of your posts was the mention in passing that you have a kit of a Bugatti in Brass that immediately piqued my interest. Just out of curiosity what Bugatti Type is it, what scale and who made the kit? Have you built it?

If I remember Scott replaced parts of the kit in Brass sheet and rod.

Great model, and of a great subject.
Particularly like the Victorian (Steampunk) look about it.
A bit reminiscent of the Harper Goff design of the Disney 20,000 leagues Nautilus, but sufficiently different whilst retaining that same era look about it.I
I have seen some built at shows here in the UK and it looks very impressive I have to say !
