Dragon VK.45.02(P)H 1/72 [SCRAPPED]

Post by ScaleArmorBuilder »

My first 1/72 scale kit and a paper panzer at that.

Pretty simple kit, decent details and DS tracks are nice.
Some of the plastic seemed a bit brittle though.
Ive shaved off all the molded on tools and tow cables. I also removed the fenders and poorly molded headlights.

Not sure if I will do a camo color on it or maybe a red oxide coat. Im leaning towards doing a dio depicting it abandoned in a yard near the factory it would have been built at. Being a prototype tank im not sure they would have painted it for testing.

That is looking pretty slick dude! :th:
I love your diorama idea, especially the red oxide paint job.
You could do it with it partially painted, like it was abandoned before they finished it.
Wow.. I really like your dio idea!

Well the construction is finished and the first part of paint.
Used hull red Vallejo and its a bit too brown for red oxide primer. So i'll be trying something completely different to get that effect and color. Fingers crossed...
For the diorama Ill be modeling a section of the Kummersdorf Testing Grounds. Nothing fancy though as the base I have is quite small.

Ill post some progress pics tomorrow.

Clay is down on the base. Hoping it doesn't shrink or crack too badly.

Oh almost forgot. The "new" technique I used for the red oxide turned out good. You can see the brush strokes but I think a coat of flat varnish will even it out.

That's looking really sweet dude!!
With the proper weathering those strokes should die down a bit.
I'm really interested in what that dio will look like.

Well the matt varnish turned the paint brown...So I'll be doing the paint over again.
You can see an update of the dio in my 100 Sub Thank You video.
