Elevation on a ship's guns?

Apologies if this is in the wrong section, please move as needed. Also, I'm sorry if the pictures are too large as well.

I'm trying to get a few ships done and the only thing holding me up is the height of the guns. I'm asking all maritime modelers, what is your way of getting all the guns on a turret aligned on the same angle, ie: a jig or method? The angle in question being that which is set when the ship is at anchor or

The reason for the Graf Spee and Hood pictures is that those are the ships I'm working on.

Not sure how your kits turrets are engineered Patric but in the past I would glue the barrel end which extends inside onto a length of rod/ plasticard with measured spacers (that part isn't required in 1/700), the image below is crude but hopefully helps

Hi, a method I used to use is to glue the barrel,s into the turret and then place it on the barbette Then measure the distance between the deck and the bottom of the barrel,s, cut a piece of scrap card and place this between the barrel,s and the deck . Obviously on the Hood you would need to do B and X turret,s before A and Y, hope this help,s, cheer,s Dave.

I'm pretty sure Germans gun can't go lower than a 90* angle.

Many thanks everyone. I think I'll use a combo of techniques described here. DC87, how the guns are set up is each barrel is separate with a ring on the end inside the turret through which a rod slides through all rings and sits on two concave cradles (1 between each ring). Also if it helps the kits are the Heller 1/400 HMS Hood and Academy 1/350 Graf Spee.
