1/48 Tamiya Spitfire Mk VB Trop USAAF in Tunisia 1943

I just completed this model for a spitfire group build I was involved with.

This was the first model airplane I have built in over 20 years and it helped to get me back into the hobby. Since it was my first build in a long time, there are some areas that need improvement, but overall I think it came out pretty good.

I used Eduard photoetch, montex masks, MIG pigments for the engine, and AK interactive african dust effects, and streaking grime(for the engine).

Absolutely top drawer General, your mate in the cockpit is brilliant, I love the Dunlop on the tyres as well. Really really good.... :clap:

this is a real beaut, i watched the allies in Tunisia, after seeing this build, the diorama is fantastic, you must be chuffed with the finished set up, very nice indeed.

I am just working on my first model in 18 years and will be happy if mine is half as good. You must of been a lot better than me before you took a break :D
On the bench is a Tamiya 1/32 F-14D Tomcat and it is the first model i have built since i was 14, back in 1995 :)

Heya..thanks!

Well I took a break from doing the historical scale modelling. I did wargame for about 10 years(warhammer 40k...etc), which involved painting miniature figurines, and sci fi based vehicles.

Historical modeling is much more challenging IMO.

Not to say that sci fi stuff couldn't be challenging, but in general the figures and tanks are designed for ease of painting and thus are "heroic" scale, not "true scale".
