Very nice Idea for the dio, has a nice flow to it, as for the children or for adding any other Civies to the dio I would recommend giving the Civilian sets by Miniart a look see, might find them useful

Thank you so much Guys, I have used one of the MiniArt Civvy sets in my "Somewhere in England" dio which I posted in the next section, I liked them but thought I would like to add something different in this one, there are some good ones on the MK35 site.

The tank is finally finished, exhaust fitted and painted, Value Gear stowage in place, and all given a dusting of MiG pigments, tow cable made up from spares box.

Now to start the dio base.

Base started, polystyrene to add the banking glued onto the MDF base using No-Nails, then covered with wall filler, the roadway is DAS air-drying clay into which I scribed the random cobble sections, this will now be left to dry 24/48 hours, then it will be given a coat of grey primer.

The old Verlinden wall and pillar has been distressed with bullet holes.

With the Locust placed in position.

Geoff, those tarps are the best that I've ever seen!
Especially that one on the engine deck.

Thanks Dave, this was my first Bronco build and was impressed, quite a fiddly build in places, instuctions not the best BUT then again not the worst I have used, but quality of the moulding, first class, will definitely buy another Bronco kit.

Base primed

the two figures to go with the tank, the seated one, sorry about the picture quality, is for the turret top with his feet in through the open hatch, and the other leaning against the wall.

I was amazed when I put the Locust in my storage cabinet for safe keeping and realised just how small it was. I have pictured it against a Vickers MkVIB which is quite a small tank.

Similar but smaller, the Vickers is smaller than the Stuart if that helps, I have a Stuart/Honey, I will take a pic of both Stuart and Locust together, but that will be tomorrow.

I wasn't happy with the first attempt of the base surface so I gave it another skim of wall filler and the road another layer of DAS, I also made a tool for impressing the cobbles from an old brush.
The base and wall given an initial coat of paint.

The wall given a first wash of Dilute Artist's Oils to dull the brickwork. Roadway given a good rub of MiG pigments and then an indirect spray of matt hairspray. Cobbles picked out with individual washes of acrylic.

Gate made from balsa, hinges made from the PE sets edging.

Placed the Locust and a couple of figures to see how it looked.

I have ordered some various grass tuft sets from FoG to glue to the earth areas, I have used these on my "Somewhere in England" dio and pleased with the end result, so now waiting for Mr Postman.

I love that cobblestone work. I wouldn't mind seeing the brush that you modified to do that Geoff.
One of the other guys... Chief I think that it was, I'm not sure, used a piece of copper pipe to do almost the same thing.
It turned out very differently but just as wonderfully.
I love that gate door too... That came out perfectly. I love the algae on the bottom.

Here are a few pics of a couple of figs for the dio. the War Correspondence will be taking a photograph of the escorted German POW's walking past the Locust.
