Building armor

Post by DC10 »

Well my goal this year is to try to build at least one armor kit. I want to build a cheaper kit incase it doesn't work out. So what are some easy to build kits that won't put to much of a dent in my wallet?

tamiya kits, any of them. You wont even have to do tracks which is the most annoying part of armour modelling

Tamiya's Panzer II F/G is pretty cheap and a good kit.
For more information on the tank, you should check out the 'Holy Toledo, it's a Panzer II!' SiG as (almost) everyone used it there. There's even a figure included.
If you wanna try smaller scale first (1/72), the newer Revell tank kits are suitable.

That does look like a good kit. How are the airfix kits in terms of fit?

Hi DC10,

I'm just doing the Bedford 1:76 twin set (QLD and QLT). Not armour but going together pretty well, Their Hedgehog (Matilda?) tank kit is also a new tooling so should pretty much fall together along the same lines.

Hope that helps mate.
Regards Dave.

Yup ol' TamTam is the best for beginners. Their Panther Late Ausf G (christmas giveaway here on ISM) is a great one. If you see their Early Panther Ausf A from the '70s KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!

Cool if its anything like the aircraft kits they are putting out now it should be great. Also on amazon(the only place Ill buy from online) the kit is only $6 that's extreamly cheap.
