Flying Fortress Buddy Build

Hey fellas,
A couple of months ago, Shane Smith and I plotted a buddy build of B-17 Flying Fortress' that was to coincide with the D-Day Group build that Russel Gossellin was hosting. I thought to enter my B-17G into the build and Shane and I would buddy build a pair.
I don't know that much about his kit as yet, but we'll be sharing this post for the construction of the to 17s.

Here's what I've decided to build,
Revell 1/48 Scale B17-G Flying Fortress

for my buddy build with Mr.Coen will be Revell 1/72 B17G that was released as a while back in 2010

i would love to see how you rescribe all the panels as i have this kit for the 100 years of bombers GB and was thinking of rescribing it

.......gonna be good to see the detail and quality differences between the two scales by the same manufacturer......Unless the 1/72 scale is an old tooling from matchbox or Heller or something...... Or both are???

Hiya all

thanks for the support firstly lads, this should be a lot of fun and I know Coen and myself are fairly looking to getting stuck in, so before I started cutting plastic I thought I would make a quick review of the kit. Model was released in 2010 so its a new release, and seems to be a very fine kit indeed, with no wrapping or any major sink marks, flash seems to rare with the only example of which I could find was on the clear spure located on a part for the ball turret

details are nice and sharp and a full interior is provided making up the bulk of the build steps in the manual, the plastic is molded in a strange metallic grey plastic which I'm not too keen on

I'll keep an eye on this as i'm going to build it for the 100 years of bombers gb. I saw the 'nine-0-nine' version on the tv so not sure which painting option to do. I saw the little miss mischief one in airfix model world and it had a crash landing I think due to a landing gear fault. I do like the bare metal so might do that one like you.

I'm really hoping to be able to get some work done on mine this afternoon... the power was out all yesterday afternoon here so I didn't get anything done. Too dark and way too cold to work.
