removing chrome from model parts

As we all know the quality of some of the pre chromed parts we get in kits isn't always that great.
A method I have used in the past and it works get a bowl big enough for parts to fit and give said parts a bath in bleach.
Yes I did type bleach as it works really well in stripping off the chrome.
Make sure you are in well ventilated room and wash parts thoroughly after chrome is removed so as no bleach remains on parts.
Then paint as norm using whatever chrome effects you prefer.

On another note having seen all your wonderful man caves have decided to take over loft space as and when funds permit.
