Zvezda 1/35 BT-5 Command ver.

Hi all,

This is my very first build attempt at 1/35 scale, result as shown in the pictures. The kit itself was quite a pain, guess is one of the older Zvezda product before they have upscale their molds
Didn't took any pictures during construction, wasn't pretty anyway, lots of back and forth to adjust almost every piece. However, after a while i have reached this point. Several mistakes that i know of, now I am counting on you to identify the rest, thank you in advance and I will appreciate all comments and suggestions.

Somehow I feel this is not finished, hence the reason I am posting it here. I am thinking to further evolve it in a diorama, either as the main or supporting actor. What I am looking for tough is a historical possible story, sometimes in the summer of '42. Possibly not one of the epic conflicts that have gathered so much attention, rather some of the many ordinary and overlooked instances of the East front at that time.

keep building and keep learning there are some great hits and tips on youtube...we all have to start there is so much to learn it will take time there are tutorials section on here as well to take you through the steps..so just spend day watching vids to learn all you need to know..but at least your first tank went together mine i ending up throwing away..

May i ask you what you don't like, or what you believe should have done differently?

Ok ... as you've written in the topic sentence this build was your very first attempt at 1/35th scale and in my opinion the result looks very nice .
Basically I never offer criticism on other members works ! I'm a newbie myself and far far away from being an expert so it's an odd thing to give any advice ... but let me give you two slight leads anyways (sorry about that ):

1. In my opinion a thin coat of flat varnish would enhance the result !
2. I know the second point is also tricky for practiced modellers cos a lot of modellers tend to overdo the weathering sometimes so please note: "less is more" !

You are absolutely right, however I must say I have indulged myself to experiment with this one, without a clear aim set in advance.

No worries mate! Just practice makes perfect! From my own experience I would recommend watching the tutorials and building reviews from fellow members on YouTube cos for me it was very helpful to look over some pro's shoulder to see how they build their models, which techniques and what kind of materials they tend to use. I've learned tons of new stuff while watching those vids and you can save plenty of labour and misadventures!
And don't forget ... the main thing is having fun with your hobby (rather than "building the best-ever model").
