Kindle Free - Tanks for the Memories

Post by Rob »

Amazon review (not mine)...
"Tanks for the memories compiles a number of accounts from various members of the 712th Tank Battalion. The accounts are really well organised with different tales been told from numerus points of view which helps to give the reader a much clearer picture of the battles and incidents that occured.

The book is bursting with detail but, unlike some war books that read more like essays just listing stats and numbers, Tanks for the Memories flows extremely well and doesn't overload you with information. The book is quite touching in parts, some of the accounts from soldiers who lost friends and got wounded are quite sad.

I really recommend Tanks for the Memories. It's a must buy for WW2 enthusiasts as it offers a very interesting and detailed insight into the lives and experiences of the men of a tank battalion during the war. Of interest is one chapter that includes accounts of a certain battle told from the memories of the German participants which adds a nice touch and helps to give a much better picture of the battle.

It is obvious that the author has spent a lot of time researching the 712th Battalion and interviewing the surviving veterans. It is a must buy for anybody with an interest in World War 2 or in tank warfare."
