Airfix 1/76 Churchill Crocodile tank

Got this for christmas. I stopped building small scale armor some time ago, but I'll post my build of the Churchill Crocodile tank for you.

The Churchill Crocodile tank was a British flame-throwing tank of WW2 based on the Churchill VII. It featured a flame projector with a range of about 40m/120 yards, where normally the machine gun would be mounted and a QF 75 gun as main armament. An armored trailer was often used for additional fuel.

Fantastic start to this older tooled Churchill mate!
I too am working my way through a couple of the older 1/76 scale..
By the time I have finished, the newer, better tooled kits will be a doodle!!
Well that's my hope anyways... Lol.....

My building progress so far, I finished the main hull:

Soo quick update on the build. I finished the assembly of the fuel trailer:





Then I airbrushed the tank. For the base color, I used Revell 68 Dark Green.





After that, I tried some pre-shading, but it was hard on small scale and I badly failed (and my airbrush too).





I think it's better if I spare your eyes from the rest of the parts.
The finished effect was also quite disappointing, basically nothing changed. I guess my airbrush isn't suitable for this and the tank is already a dark color.

Just some images of the build so far, I finished applying the decals and painting suspension, tools, etc.











It's still missing a clear coat. Later, I will weather this thing up.

Took me some time to post this final update up, last time it was gone as my PC crashed

So I finished weathering the whole thing and everything else.

I did some color modulation with oil paints and I'm quite happy with the result. On the finished model, the effect is almost vanished though.






Now the finished model. Lots of pigments, rust streaks, oil spills on the fuel trailer and chipping:






























I didn't make a hole in the barrel, as I found it was way too fragile.

The dirt and dust and muck looks excellent, and in scale as well..
Nice job indeed, only little niggle for me would be the decals....the camera flash highlights the clear film..
Trust me, you excelled on the construction and paint/weathering .....
Wish my tiny kits looked half as good !!

You're right, the decals have a huge film, and I didn't do a lot to remove that.
I like criticism so I can improve!

You can sometimes get rid of that by pricking the decal with a fresh blade, then brushing on klear or micro sol/set. I've only had it not fully work once, on my current build! But it's worth trying.

Model Ok, but decals shining. Chief is right Sol set - indicated. Im use Vallejo Decal Medium . After painting, decals Im use for all model i Humbrol matt cote - You can tray all model matt varnish painting - will be better efect
