Model and Diorama Reference pictures and websites...

Post by wappynutter »

SORRY IF THIS SITE IS COMMON KNOWLEDGE!!

Okay so i have, while surfing the net for Matilda II Diorama inspiration, stumbled upon a website/forum that is crammed to the maximum with old pictures and images from all theaters, most wars and all nations..
You can register to the site but i was only interested in looking through the huge collection of images!!

I found the first section called Bundesarchive Photos 1933 - 1945..+ all fields of WWII absolutely fascinating!!
408 pages of real images from WW2, some are a little brutal showing fallen or injured troops but i was more interested in the vehicles and the diorama potentials..
If this type of image database is of interest to you guys too then take a look over at...

http://histomil.com/index.php

I have added this post in the modelling chat forum as i noticed there is no Image/website reference forum in the reference section.
Some forums do a links page to specific websites and such like. I wonder if we should have something similar to add good reference sites too??:

Hope some of you find inspiration among the many, many pages.... WW1 images too!!
Happy Modelling.. :th:
:cheers2:

Okay so a couple more reference sites and these are for uniforms. :th:
I thought some of you may find these interesting when trying to find the colour or style worn by different nations.

The first shows images of uniforms along with a description then lists the Vallejo colours for the uniform parts.
Nothing on this link is credited to me and i make no claims to anything published here...
The site is millitary modelling and the guy posting is a Garry Wild and was written by him in January 2009...

The next site is a blog and it lists all uniforms, all nations, in alphabetical order with pictures and above each is the era, campaign, regiment the uniform refers to..
Again i have no link or claim to anything written here..
The blog is Stukas over stalingrad and the headings also list weapons, equipment, armour, aircraft..

Hope some of you find these interesting.
Happy modelling !!

Yeah its image overload, like you said though a little slow to load sometimes.
I never realised just how much photography took place, and of such harrowing and distressing scenes.. God bless them all!!

Thanks for all the information!
I've been browsing the Bundesarchiv for months now, so many images, from touching to stunning...
I like that it's completely public and open for everyone.
