Italeri 1/72 C-47 Dakota - D-Day GB

Hey guys,

As well as videos on YT, I thought I would document the build progress on my Russ Gosselin D-Day GB entry here.

I am doing a diorama of US Paras boarding a C-47 Dakota prior to dropping into Normandy. For this kit I have an Airwaves PE set and some Aires Quickboost resin engines.

Cockpit build so far.






And some internal details I have added. Partial ribbing to the interior (only where you will see it through the door).

I haven't worked on this for a few days as I am trying to finalise up my PhD for submission. But I had 10 mins spare just so thought I would snap some pics of what I did get done the other week.

The interior is now painted using Vallejo Yellow Olive (prob not 100% accurate but who cares). And the interior has had a wash of Ultimate Dark Dirt. I need to add more weathering in the form of scuffs, scratches and more washes along the floor etc.

The ribbing has come out really well I think, let me know what you think.

Cheers Gary. Wasn't so sure about the ribbing when I first did it, but under a coat of paint and a wash I think it works. Still need to add some light chipping and worn paint around the door, seat edges etc. As the seats in these things were just molded metal so the edges would all have worn through the paint pretty quick I am sure.
