Airfix F-5A Freedom Fighter (01043)

Post by graham22 »

This is an old tool issue by Airfix
bought it off Ebay for £1 so thought i'd give it a go
The parts have a lot of flash and generally the fit is poor but with plenty of filler and patience it's coming out better than expected
Image
Major components built - lots of filler and even more sanding to acheive a fair base to proceed
Image
First coat of paint - hand painted using Revell acrylic - silver (90)
Image
repainted using Revell acrylic - Aluminium (99)
Image
added bombs & sidewinders - painted the black and canopy (not fixed yet) - I'll be adding the pilot as the cockpit it pretty sparse

on the whole pretty please with how it's turned out - built OOB
more later - thanks for looking

I love the F5! I remember building loads of these as a kid. Is it raised panel lines?

Looking forward to seeing it finished!

Nice work with an old kit there. Its amazing how a paint job and decals can get a good result even if the kit isn't the best.
