Advice again !!! Sorry

Post by russ2471 »

Hi guys

Just want to tap the fountain of knowledge again

I've primered my model and noticed some areas I need to fill

My question is, can I put the filler directly on the primed surface or sand back to the plastic ?

Tanks in advance :apc: :apc:

I don't think it matters too much as after sanding down the filler a fair bit of primer will have come off :) then prime again after all the filling and sanding

Hope this has been helpful :shifty:

You should be absolutely fine putting your filler straight down as primers are designed to help 'key in' the next layer. Indeed if you are going to do metal finish primer coats are the best way to see if you have any flaws that need fixing before putting down the paint. You may have to do several layers of primer/filler before painting depending on your kit or in my case ham-fisted builds. :P

I plan on priming my WIP early for just this reason as I am using white plasticard and white filler (with hindsight not a good move) and the primer will help me spot the badly blended parts.
