Pre-shading Alclad2

About to embark on my first proper 'live' go with Alclads. Any hints as to how I pre-shade when using alclad or is it a matter of gently and lightly spraying different shades.

I was thinking of say using aircraft Aluminium (AC119)for the main metal finish, but in places I want darker using single thin coats another colour such as Steel (AC112) or duralanium(AC 102) and then going over it with the AC119.

Also, after the coats of gone down. How do I prevent the paint being pulled off by Tamiya tape(as happened when I did a test spray)

Any help/tips greatly appreciated

Don't bother preshading as you won't see it, post shade using a darker colour.

If you want my opinion in it use duraluminium for your all over coat and do a few random panels in other shades of aluminium. The aircraft aluminium is a bit of a pig to spray and is too shiny for a realistic finish.

Make sure your using the alclad gloss black base and spray that in nice thin coats allowing a couple hours to dry, before your next coat take that back with some 2500 grade wet and dry then spray on top of that doing the same with your top coats.
