Mirage 1:35 Polish wz.34-II armored car

Started a new build, a small en OOB build.
Not an easy build, for it needs buckets of putty and lots of plastic card, but I had a bargain on this very lovely and cute kit.





Can you imagine driving in this?
Would be uncomfortable and like a coffin on wheels...

The wz. 34 armored car was developed as a modification of the wz. 28 half-track vehicle. The tracked wheels were replaced with wheels with tires. This allowed simpler maintenance and improved the reliability of the driving mechanism without major deterioration of the off-road capability. Ten squadrons of armored cars (some 80 vehicles) were mobilized in September 1939. In the first days of fighting the cars were used for reconnaissance and support. Despite great superiority of the German equipment, Polish crews achieved success thanks to bravery and using the element of surprise.









Glued the two hull parts together, and dry fitted the radiator door.
And I think it does not fit perfectly...
A huge gap is showing..



Solved that by adding a plastic card at the inside,



And filled it up with plastic putty and sand it down after drying.



Filled up the gap at the top of the car too, and after some more sanding and polishing, this is what it turned so far.



It's a small kit, but most work is going to be filling and sanding gaps, and reworking parts.

Thanks mate, I'm enjoying sanding now with the new Ultimate sanders.
I'm planning a small Vignette with this one. Maybe one figure leaning at the car. .

It's early 1930's AFV and this kit too I think... Bad, bad plastic and fitting parts is also terrible.
But it's a funny looking kit, and with some effort you can make it look nice

HELLO!
And welcome to another update.
The Morser Karl is finished, so until the D-day GB starts, I got time to fool around with my other builds like this one

And we start with another problem this kit has... I didn't see it when I did my box review on this kit, but there are pins missing for attaching the front wheels on...




So had to do some sprue stretching to solve it.




Replaced the moulded handles for opening the hood by copper wire.
Here are the moulded ones on the sprue:



And here are the handles I made:



This kit does not come with the metal bars that holds the fenders up, so I had to scratch build them too from wire.



The search light was just a blob of plastic too, so I drilled it open and made a handle from wire. Also added a small electrical wire too. The light itself will painted silver inside and will receive a home made glass lens.
Also replaced the door handle on the left side and at the back door.







And here's what I got so far guys!





Really? This is the handle for starting the engine? Bad....BAD!






One side is round, the other flat? OMG.... And this kit part is way too small too...
So I'm replacing this too by making one from wire. But That will be seen in my next update.

I must say that it's not an easy task with this kit though. ..
Looks like this kit came straight out of hell, 666 bad parts moulded by Lucifer himself
But seriously though, I like this kit so far and there is nothing some plastic card and putty can't solve so far
This car is going to be one step closer to building a ww1 vehicle that I want to build sometimes.

Build finished!
Well.... almost..
I made the handle for jumpstarting the engine, and added the wheels.
So I'm finished building this model, but I'm missing something...
After doing some googling on this model, I saw on all photo's rivets on the bodywork all around as you can see on this pic from a reconstructed car.




Hmmm... guess I'm going to make my own rivets, or maybe I got enough rivets in my spare PE box...
We'll see that next time.

The camouflage on that car in the pic above, is not the camo scheme i'm planning. No... I have to do the difficult 1934 scheme...

So what do you guys think? Should I go for the effort of adding the extra (missing) rivets?
I Think it adds just that little extra to this model.

hey frans nice work! you know i'm a german and i'm a bit like hamilkar barkas i would only build that vehicle as a victim of a german afv so it would be destroyed and burnt out so i would not place rivets on it and invest the safed time into a nice german afv come to the dark side we have cookies ... and tigers and panthers <3!

As you know I'm a big fan of German AFV too but this thing kinda stole my gingerbread hart...

The winding handle is removed in that rebuild for that rebuild is from 1937 with a differend camo.
I, m building a 1934 model and those still had the winding handels on them like the T Ford.
That's what I have read anyway

Go figure how much AFV's has chanced during the war. Within 10 years from this build they had evolved big time!
The A Team eh? Lol! Now I have to go look for a small BA to drive this car

Looks great Frans mate, those little additions make all the difference. Good job! Don't listen to the dark side, these obscure models have so much more character than A N other panzer, no matter how much chocolate they're coated with! Lol!!

I have already tried to add some rivets from stretched spue, and it worked out great!
Your right. I'm trying to make this horrible kit into a gem, so adding the rivets is a must for me.
I do have to count them though, for the panels need a even amount of rivets...
