Mounting/Hanging models

It's the perennial issue of where and how to store your completed kits. In anticipation of this problem I'm thinking of ways I can mount and hang my various creations. One idea I have for in flight models is to mount an clear acrylic rod at 45 degrees to a corner to complete a triangle. Since I have a few large scale kits (mostly 1:32/48) any ideas how thick a rod I'd need to be able to safely hang them.

Is this even a good idea? How do you hang/display your kits when you are out of desk/cupboard space?

I dunno, but I am in a similar position. Basically my shelf space has ran out. And I have some bigger kits in the stash I am itching to build, but with no where to store them. I prefer aircraft in a static pose, as its more to model, but ultimately means you can't hang them anywhere, so they need a surface to sit on.

Acrylic rod will work for mounting models from the wall, or raised above static ones on a shelf. So long as there is no flex in the rod it will be strong enough to support a bigger aircraft no problem I am sure.

Hi you could try making a box frame and putting a ariel photo on the bottom and then secure your aircraft on a short clear post then a perspex top . And hang it on the wall .

I use cup hooks and 10lb test fishing line to hang my aircraft models from the ceiling..

Do you attach the models to the fishing line directly (tying line around the models themselves)?

I just did slipknots over the model so there enough to hold it but not to damage anything
