Hey,

So it's a friends birthday coming up and I'm going to surprise him with this.

Very nicely detailed for such a little size!

Even the wood panelling

I put the cockpit together ... his birthday's pretty soon and the mail took a while to get through, so I'm gonna have to power through this one...

That's all for now, waiting for things to dry

Looking good, I really like the P-51 Mustangs. I can only assume this aircraft is what the movie was based off, not that I've seen it mind.

When I'm more adept, I plan to do a P-51D Mustang, but the 'Shark of Zambales' - The Philippine scheme as that's where the other half is from. So I look forward to see this progress.

So I got down to painting. I'm sorry for not posting more update pics. but for those of you interested, here's the paint work - since these photo's were taken, I dry brushed some Tamiya Metallic Silver on the panel and the dials popped nicely (will post pics of that later today) I sprayed a gloss coat and am going to be doing a brown wash today.

It's come a long way, hopefully the pics later today will show that better

Thanks!
Here are some [better] more for you guys.
I put down a wash of Sienna Brown Oil paint mixed with about 70% white spirit... twice, these are photos after the first go at it. I'll post more later of the finished cockpit before sealing it with some Flat.

These photos are post Burnt Sienna wash, and pre coat of Flat.
I mixed about 70% white spirit to some oil paint, gave it a coat and wiped it down about 30 mins. later. Then I repeated the process. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. It still might have been too thick though.

Last night I gave it a coat of Model Masters Flat.

I'll hopefully be able to get both sides together tonight!!

Time for a quick update before the weekend - hopefully I'll be able to get a lot of work done this weekend - It'll be my last chance to model for the next two weeks

I got both halves together, going to be lots of sanding and maybe some putty

Got the halves together and puttied, sanded, and puttied again... but first! ... THE JEEP!

Such a cute teeny weeny car!

Got some Tamiya Rubber Black down on the wheels

Puttied the halves

Had to re-putty some parts, so I was able to do some re-scribing while I waited for the parts to dry

That's all for now, more soon!

LONG overdue update for anyone still maybe following along :)

After priming and sanding, and priming and sanding, and priming and sanding, I was finally able to get the Tamiya Chrome Silver down.
The pre-shading worked out really well too

Image
Image

I let it dry for over 48 hours and then masked her all up for the Tamiya Red (Tails) and the Olive Drab on the ... 'hood' (??)
I finished up the jeep a little while back and got it decaled, still gotta put down another gloss coat and do some weathering.
Also finished my little pilot for the dio. I'm gonna add a little more dirt to the dio as well as some bushes... and obviously some greenery to that tree :P

The figure's been gloss coated and will get a wash... of what colour yet, I don't know.
