Strange Italeri Decals??? HELP!

Post by Thumboy »

ok, I wonder if anyone can help me? I got the italieri 1/72 ju-87 stuka kit this week and looks great on first inspection but I noticed the decals have a funny green area on the cross that goes on the left side of the fuselage (see photo). if anyone can tell me what is going on here that would be great.

the kit

that looks strange indeed
i don't know what is up with that
but i would go and have a look if there are a few seperate crosses
atleast if you want the version with the snake
then you can apply this cross over the green blob

Those crosses are only used for that paint scheme. Different crosses are included for the other paint schenes. It has been painted over, but not exactly like that.

do keep in mind that is very hard to get your paint the same color as the decal
that is why i would put a complete decal over that part of the green
or use some paint to cover it to get a even finish

:jd: Wow. That will the hardest Yellow to match for the snake !
Why have they not left the centers of the snake blotches Transparent?

Have you considered scanning the snake then trace the outline and make a Mask?

They sure haven't made this an easy kit!

Good luck friend! Can't wait to see what you do with it!

Nice bird!

Thanks for clearing things up (this community is great) :th: so the cross is supposed to look like that :wtf: - which is good. but if I do that paint scheme it means I need to match that green and the horrid yellow on the decal? not so good :(

I think that cutting the cross out altogether might be best and replace them with some from the stash, then paint the green over them.

totally agree I noticed the horrid yellow before the green and thought I am not painting my stuka that colour. why have they not left it clear??? only Italeri could answer that.

thanks for all the help guys. I think I know what I will do... take the easy way out and paint the model in one of the other three schemes included in the box. but I do like the snake... ummm what to do? :cheers2:
