Well here is a project I completed over my Golden Week holiday here in Japan. The IL 2 Shturmovik in 1/48 by Tamiya. It's like most of Tamiya's Recent kits. It goes together wonderfully with very little seam work required. I did a little putty work on the fuselage half seam line. But, it required very little sanding with the technique that I use. Incidentally, this was the first attempt I had ever done free handing camouflage with an airbrush. I hand painted several as a kid. This was so much easier. I used the Japanese equivalent glass varnish before decaling. Tamiya's decals are hit and miss at times. But these went on well. with that in mind, Mr. mark softer seems to work pretty well with them. I added an enamel wash and some dry brushing in certain spots for weathering and also some of Tamiya's weathering clays. All in all, it was a fun kit that I highly recommend. Happy Modelling every one!!! Matt

One more note: I did use the Tamiya canopy masks in this and other recent builds. I've found that if you use a good pair of cuticle scissors (for fingernails) they work great and give no problems in cutting the shapes out. I wish Tamiya would cut their masks. But, IMO if you want to save yourself a couple of bucks from not buying the Edward masks, this technique works.

Thanks Paul. I really enjoyed your F-16 and am looking forward to your Corsair when it's finished. I think you will enjoy IL-2 as well.
