Zero Paints primers

Post by Desertfish »

I’ve been reading up a little on Zero Paints, and while most people seem to agree that the quality of their basecoat colours is outstanding, I also read many horror stories about their primers. Most comments refer to the fact that large portions of both the basecoat and primer are ripped away when removing masking tape - even when Tamiya’s masking tape is being used. Apparently this seems to happen more often with the white primer, but some people claim they also experienced this problem with both the grey and black primers.

I was wondering if anyone had experienced similar issues and if so, what primer(s) would be recommended for use with Zero Paints basecoats. I tried to find the answer on Hiroboy’s website, and although they appear to have a good guide on applying basecoat paints, there is little to no information about the correct application of their primers.

Same here used zero primer even for my aircraft and then sprayed over with tamyia acrylics
Haven't had a problem yet, I leave my primer to dry for 24 hours.

Thanks for the info. Maybe those who had problems were either spraying their primer on too thick or not letting it dry long enough before applying their base colours. Will see how it goes.
