Hasegawa 1:32 Folke Wulf FW-190A-8

Post by jbellos1 »

DONE! :thumb2:

Fits were very nice, with very little filler used on wing roots and fuselage. The "Bombe" fit was a nightmare and I ended up scratch building the attachment rails and main center connection. A 4 month build - very part time, but enjoyable nontheless. The paint scheme was difficult, I'll admit I had to go over it a few times to get it where it is, and the decals?... were frightfully fragile and would not sit into panel lines no matter how much set and sol was used. I finally had to cut with the fresh #11, and there is where the fragility was seen.

All in all, not too bad of a kit, typical Has details - very nice, and I would recommend it for everyone other than a beginner.

Now for the reveal...3 at a time. I hope you like it.

Lovely looking build, and great paintwork.

BTW, you can use Photobucket to get around the 3 pics per submission difficulty.

Thanks all -
The left under carriage is giving me fits...you can see it angling its way forward. Snapped the darn thing off a cole of times and the glue is not set yet.

Photobucket eh? Thanks for that tip!

Awesome work!!! Weathering and paint work is just right. I read that you were having issues with the decals. Hasegawa is of course a Japanese company. The paper that Tamiya and some other companies use tend to be finicky for some reason. I've found however that Mr. Mark softer works ok with it. You might try that if you build any other Japanese kits. Even though I use Mark Softer, I've found that I still have to give Tamiya's stuff two passes and sufficient drying time sometimes several hours or more. Decals are cool, but such a headache. Love your build!!!

Thanks for the compliments. I think it turned out pretty well.

Mr. Mark Softer eh? Since I am heading to the Tamiya 1:32 Zeke 21 next and their 1:32 P-51D Mustang as well for the D-Day GB, I will have to look for this. MicroSol and MicroSet should have done it I would have thought. I tried Walthers Solvaset also. Thanks for the tip!
