37th Tank Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Creighton Abrams

Post by Coen »

Here is a group of builds that I did with the intention of putting them all together in a diorama emulating a photo that I came across some time ago.
It's a series of AFV's from the 37th Tank Battalion, led by then Lieutenant Colonel Creighton Abrams.
Here's the picture that inspired the whole processes.
(I think that most of these I've already posted, but only from one angle and not all together... I think.)

Here's the other,

Here's the results,

I know that Hamilkar Barkas thinks that a Sherman tank is nothing more than a wheel cock for a Tiger I  , but I liked them a little myself, especially the Firefly.
I'll always be a Tiger fan though.

Some very nice Sherman's you've got their.

Want to do one myself at some point. Most likely the firefly as I've built this in 1:76 and would love to do it in 1:35.
On the bench

Too much to list. !!

lovely bunch of Shermans, they all look awesome! You applied the right amount of weathering and the figures which go along with the tank models are beautifully painted.

Some well built sherman's there. I know the Sherman was inferior to the Tigers but I enjoy the way the US Army kitted them out with extra armour etc. gives the modeller an artistic licence to do pretty much what you want. And I love the look of the Sherman.
You can run, but you'll only die tired!

Me too.
I'm mostly a Tiger I lover, but there's something about the tenacity of the American Sherman that gets me.

I've never been a fan of the Sherman, you have done a cracking job with these, though.

Some brilliant works there Coen! The sherman isn't one of my favorit tanks but you build and paint them very nice and I really like the result.
Thumbs up man :thumb1:.

Thanks HD, I'm more of a German armour builder than anything else, but I'll build all the armour in all the theaters.

I just bought a ship and a plane and I'm an armour man. It wasn't too painful, course I have 't started building them yet. I'm still building the man cave.
Wait and see'if I burst into flames I'll let you know. :boom:
