super job. Not gonna lie, I'm definitely going to play around with styrene strips for the compartments/boxes on the turret (as you did - and we talked about at Shearwater. I love the different coloured panels as well! Don't know what scheme I'm going for yet though - your word is always an inspiration. Good looking start to the Dio too.

I'm almost finished detail painting now. I'll see about the optics once I'm done that. I may still do the Norm treatment.
I'm also thinking about adding that really cool and scary spec Ops figure that Shane Smith gave me. I know he's probably not accurate for the scene, but He looks damn cool.

Looking good dude. I need to play around a bit and figure out the best colour to use. The British armour colour really is quite yellow. I am going to be doing the hull of mine green first then wearing back through the sand yellow to the green in places. But I am going to do the side skirts, nose armour, exhaust shrouds etc. in plain sand yellow over primer as they are probably painted sand yellow in the factory as they are not mounted on the vehicles when in the UK.

I have a feeling that I'll have to hit it with a filter to pop the yellow, mine is a bit too subdued compared to some of the photos that I've seen. I wanted it to have a faded look but I went a bit crazy with the white.

That's really looking the poodle's jewels Mike and I love the "patchwork quilt" look - seen plenty of pics of them like this in the field. Personally I like the sand colour you've used and from your photos it looks lovely and buttery!!

Most things that I build that aren't tanks need a lot of work.
There's a lot of lemons on my shelf of late.
I'm trying to fix that by cutting back on how many things that I have on the go.
The B17 for the Russell Gosselin D-Day GB is a great example. Total pile if steaming poo.
But I'll finish anyway, then hang it on my ceiling.

I managed to get in the man cave today for a few hours just before the end of the day.
So I sat down and over chipped my chally 2.
That's fine though, I'll be hiding most of that behind the weathering anyway so it won't be as intense as you see it here.
Besides... I like it this way. I was temped to actually add even more damage too.

You Sir have been a great source of sun in my Night-Shift.
I am writing up piles of 40 year old instructions on "How to do the Job" (SOP's) and every so often when the PC work gets to much I have been spending time watching your Vids on You Tube and this really stunning build of the Challenger.
Your build is inspirational to me as I am awaiting the AB that will kick off some work on my 1/48 Jackal and then my 1/35 Chief.
Your chat on your Vids is great, warm and friendly. I especially liked the chat about your accent and changing it for the Vids....

Chief directed me here to look at your build and more importantly the paintwork so I could pick up tips.
Just great work and really spot on detail.
I watched Challys during my time supporting as a Warrior Driver in an Infantry Battalion and they always made the hairs on my neck tingle.

Sorry if I took you by surprise with my first few sentences...
It maybe all of the PC work and admin but watching your Vids and other chaps and reading the forums is really helping.
Not helping my Bank Account (three orders tonight, damn the Internet

) and may result in a telling off from wife when she see's joint account

I does help and I am a total novice and I want to get better but that comes with experience and practice and watching and listening to those who have the skill.

All sorts of work done the last few days.
I've got the Chally all chipped, glossed, and decaled. Yesterday I got the first wash on her. Today I'll be getting the pin washes and maybe a filter or two on her.
I still have to paint the two crew members.
I also finished the diorama the other day. I still need to weather the K rails, barrels and other add-ons but the majority is all done.
Maybe a day or two left and she's done I think.

My wife does not get the beauty in a tank, its just metal and noise. She is right, but the representation of it, either if your not in the know does nothing, or if you look at this damn fine model, it makes you see, feel, hear and remember the whole thing.

Right then... so a lot has been done since the last bit.
I finished the figures for one...

Then I gave the Chally an overall Ultimate dark Dirt wash.

I added a light wash of the Ultimate mix of sand, light dirt, and some concrete to make the Middle East Sand. I didn't take any shots of that though. Nor did I shoot the oil stains and fuel stains.

Ah well... it's done now.
So here it is in all it's beaten glory haha.

This afternoon I picked up my H&S Evolution and with trembling hands (kid you not), set about spraying my first coat of MIG Surface Primer.........and I was going to put some pictures on the site of my effort.....
Now you put these fantastic, beautiful and artistic pictures up of this beast of war.
