Hi peeps, well I emailed airfix regarding the awful 1/24 mk vb spitfire. Took them ages to get back in touch with and all they said was because it was an old kit there is nothing they can do but have stated the their newer kits are of and I quote "excellent quality with no flash" sorry guys. Was hoping for a better result than that to be honest. I also stated that I'd I bought something from idea and the assembly was as abysmal as this kit was they would be giving me a refund. The choose not to comment on that! :(

Lol no flash, send them a link to that warrior I reviewed a couple of months back haha.

Not the best reply from them really, shame that they still sell the, older kits when they could retool then.

I'm surprised by Airfix, their customer service has always been good, maybe Darrel Burge needs to be forwarded a copy of all this....

Strange isn't it? They're great when it comes to replacing missing parts! I guess while they're still making money from the old kits, they'll keep churning them out. Disgraceful.

I'd be interested to see the letter you sent. Did you mention a warped part as I always thought they replaced those?

Wouldn't say warped but just would fit at all together. It was the engine bay that was the worst. Couldn't fit the panels on top and the exhausts too. And as I applied pressure to get them to fit it snapped

Ref: supermarket spitfire 1/24 mk vb

Hi,
I purchased the spitfire 1/24 mk vb
From argos a couple of month ago and 1stly upon opening it was missing a full sprue containing all cockpit and engine part. I contacted you and was sent out said missing parts very quickly. As I have been assembling I came to join the fusalages together and the fit was dreadful. As I applied a bit of pressure to close the gap the front part where the engine is kept broke also once engine was fitted the exhaust would not fit with the engine covering. Plus the flash on the parts was terrible. I was wandering if this was defunct batch and was wandering how I go about claiming a fee fund due to the bad craftsman ship on said item.

Yours thankfully
John

Flash I think they can claim it's a side effect of the manufacturing process in the same way as TV and monitor manufacturers can sometimes get away with dead pixels.

Hmm maybe another letter referring to the sale of goods act as clearly the kit isn't fit for purpose. I.e you would not expect a part to break in the normal process of putting it together. Have you tried going back to argos and going that route as I believe your initial contract is with the retailer and then airfix?

Not a laywer, but have had to return a few non modelling bits over the years.
