Managed to get initial start to the pigment stage. I have over egged it somewhat as I was rushing to get as much done in the small window of freedom I was gifted! So hope it rained at Kursk!

Tools etc used:

Three tones of pigments used, dark to light applied to the model keeping the dark pigments to the shadows.

Fixed down with enamel thinner and once dry white spirit added to create a few random stains and tide marks.

Dark washes then applied in random small areas and patches followed by fuel, grease and wet effects.

I wanted to build up slowly in layers but time was short and I rushed it a bit so is heavier and more muddy than l wished ... Still much more to do and only working on the lower hull and tracks as I don.t want to keep handling it with pigments on

The Kursk Operational Environment

The terrain in the Kursk area of operations generally favored the defender due to a lack of improved roadways, several major rivers running east-west, and numerous swelled streams and muddy areas caused by heavy rains. Additionally, many small rural towns provided cover and concealment for dismounted defending forces. The attacking German forces had both natural and man-made disadvantages to overcome.

It rained the day before the opening of the battle hard enough to cause all sorts of trouble Paul.
You're all good for mud buddy. I can't remember off the top of my head but I think that it rained on the eve of the battle of Prokhorovka as well.

I have to;

1. Weather the upper hull and turret
2. Paint the tools
3. Paint the spare tracks
4. Paint the exhausts
5. Finish the crew

....and then review to see what needs touch ups and tweaks, but thanks for the comments, really feels like I'm on the right track when you guys give such nice feedback
