Hahaha... you've been dying to get a chance to use this haven't you Lee?????

And here we go with the initial box art and the sprues in their bags as an opener. Had a lot of problem with Lightroom today so had to reboot and all is well.
I am working on the wheels and every single one has mold lines running up and down the middle. I am going with the rubber wheels as opposed to the steel wheels. As this is going to be my first ever plastic model that I will finish, it is going to be an out the box build. I also have no idea how long this will take but an hour a night is what I'm planning on spending and that should be good.

Cheers
Jim

Main part of the tank with the instruction book and decals
So here we go then. Next photographs will be close ups of work underway together with any issues or problems I'm having. Might be looking to you guys for help along the way. And it will be appreciated too.

Cheers and catch up with you all later

It was cheapish without getting carried away. Lol I saw some beauties a lot more expensive, but this is a good start I think. I don't have a stash built up yet either. Trust me Norm. I'm probably going to be pinging you for advice on this build. :thumb2: :

Thanks. I am working on the wheels at the moment. Lot of mold lines but nothing too bad that some scraping and sanding cant fix. Got some pictures (before Lee throws up that confounded smilie of his) and will put those up in a few day. Sadly run out of time tonight. I am in two bands and they eat up a lot of time each week which takes time away from the GB build.

Cheers

Pfft bands, my mate is in two bands now as well. So between that, the fact he now has a gf he lives with and the fact he is in Fife and I am not means I rarely get to see him. Bloody music lol.

Looking forward to seeing the first bits of production of this mate.

Not much of an update - but an update all the same. Now these pictures make the parts look really really bad but they are just fine and ready for the undercoat. Took a bit longer than I thought to get the seam lines out and the dust - but we're there. As I mentioned before I am going for the rubber wheels on this, out of the box, build.

Some more progression. I found that there are a lot of small gaps that I will need to fill. Not a bad fit but it was impossible to get it to fit the way I wanted. The wheels are all just dry fitted at the moment to see how she's looking. I still need to get rid of a lot of flash all around the model - But it is not too bad, just a slight edge that a wee scrape will remove. The third picture down shows the gaps on the front I will need to fill.

I hope so Norm. This is actually a fun build. Nothing too difficult for my first tank and the plastic is fitting together fairly well. Either way it's coming together nicely.

Your first tank you say. Fun you say.

I was convinced to try the 'Fun' of armour for the first time recently too.

and actually the sense of zen achieved was actually rather pleasant.

Lokking forward to the rest of your build.

Why not enter the same model? It would be very cool to compare progress and issues along the way :-) But many many thanks for designing the logos Hans. I forgot to say thank you before.

There are some very bad ejection pin marks inside the turret. While they will be hidden I thought I could test the method filmed by Luis. It worked great using a rounded blade.

Hey Jim,
I've built enough T34s to say that almost all of the kits that I've built had that weird issue with the turret.
Glue, clamp fill and sand.
Most of it will be hidden after the build but I always did my best to fix it.
Always remember before you glue anything, especially something this wonky, dry fit it until you're happy with it.
I've gotten burned once (or twice) and had to go find and after market turret.

If your gaps are on a weld line you can try filling them with a thick putty like the Humbrol or Revell ones. Then instead of smoothing them off work the tip of a cocktail stick along the fill to mimic the weld effect. WW2 Russian armour had such rough welding jobs no-one will ever notice!
