Hope your all well and dandy .
You will notice on my previous post with photos, that suddenly they are all showing "This person has moved or deleted the image"
This person has certainly not moved or deleted the fecking image .
PB has become a bit of a pain in the ass to me (I asked on the Photographs Forum for advice, and got some very helpful info on alternative Image Hosting).
I'm quite PC savvy, so know that even my dim-witlessness is not to blame this time (believe me I do admit my faults which are many but this time PB is to blame).
It maybe my PC is also taking a log Good-Bye
I am going to up-load some images this afternoon of my Tiger build.
I am though just going to try something first.........

What may you ask (ask away) is a bottle of MIG doing in this rant.
I'm at work now, and I had no other modelling image to hand other than this (you know all of this makes sense here in my head, but to you kind Gents it must seem a Cluster-Feck of weirdness).

So, anyway.....
This afternoon, I will get some images up of progress to date .
I have been trying desperately to get this finished, but with new job coming up soon, and work in handing over 17 years of my current job, its going to beat me.
I have been trying to make my Tiger a real scrappy cat.
As, despite trolling the Internet for images of Tigers, I have not found many or any colour images of battle-worn Tigers.
Plenty of Tigers in colour that are standing Museum displays and as such these do show wear and tear and rust and scrapes.

Now look at that for some rust around the rear
I have gone for a chipped and brutally bashed beast.
I promise to do my best to get some images up this afternoon.

I was hoping to see it at the end. No rushing it though, it's better to take your proper time and finish it properly than to risk ruining her by skipping steps or cancelling effects that you had planned because of time.
I'll be happy to see her finished regardless of when.
The most important part of the build is the enjoyment, not the finish.
However, oftentimes one will follow the other and are directly related

I am at work at the moment so sneaking this message to you under the boss radar.
Boom-Poofy-Poofy WTF.
Is it a Canadian phrase?
All I can say is it will get used from now on
I haven't a chance now.
Time has caught up and the deadline will pass.
I don't want to skip stages and I want a simple Dio included as well (the Resin Bike for Gods Sake, it needs to be included).
Building this Tiger has now given me a love of Tigers.
I have the books, the kit and the love of it now, and I just want to build more of them.
I'm so sorry mate not to complete, but New Job and Old Job have collided above these dates and simply I can't finish it before Tuesday.
I wanted so much to do this in your honour Sir and join with the Coen Clan in giving you the praise and rightful acclaim that you deserve in our eyes (yeah, yeah, yeah you think that is baloney, but let us be the judge of how much we love you and your work ).
I will get her finished and she will look spectacular (she does now).
The one thing though, and the best thing is about all of this SIG, is the fun I have had. It has been a blast, a 8.8 blast .
I have truly seen through this SIG some of the most wonderful, artistic and to be honest masterful modelling ever.

I shall make you happy (and myself) then by getting it completed in my own time, and we can both have a look at it and smile and know it was done with spirit and love (and a hell of a lot of swearing and buggered eyes after all of that PE).
I learn so much of this art as each model is completed. Its such a great joy to be in this kindred group.

Right then you gorgeous smelling (all TET and Mr Surfacer ) plastic fanatics.

I broke my promise of having Jpg's up in the afternoon of Tuesday (slap wrist and all that).
I got all pre-occupied with having to search out for a Smart Car for Mrs DW.
Mrs DW has always had a hankering for these tiny cars. Living on a Main Road and with parking at a premium, it made sense to go for tiny-weeny.
Yesterday evening was spent at a showroom with Mrs DW ensconced in a Smart car with the eager Sales-Man.
Bless his cotton socks, he was a genuinely nice chap from Down-Under, but he did come up against a lady who knows her onions when it comes to sales techniques.
Off goes Mrs DW in the car and the Sales-Man grinning thinking of his commission.
I walked off around the Car Show-Room grounds with a cup of coffee brought out to me by a eager young lady from the Car Sales.
I could not have looked at more than two cars and finished my plastic cup of brown something, when the Smart Car, Mrs DW and by now not grinning Sales-Man come tear assing back into the grounds.
I have been with Mrs DW 17 years, and as all of us know from years of experience, a smile from the missus does not have to be happiness (could be wind ).
"So, I'll leave you to have a chat" says the delightful Aussie chap.
"So then darling" I say, equalling her rye smile,
"How was it for you",
Smart cars are nice but not for her.
The Multi-Drive Automatic box seems to change when revs are over and above.
Seat position is just odd.
She described the brake position as if in a Truck (I need to speak to her about that, as I did not know she drove trucks..... ).
She just didn't like it.
So with lovely Sales-Man looking all forlorn and sad, we departed.
So Smart cars it will not be. Back to drawing board for a small car with preferably 0 Car Tax, fantastic fuel consumption and low mileage.........

By the way, the photos are shocking. I always make excuse for them, but to be honest I took them in the evening with natural light all over the place coming through window. The flash is either to harsh or to soft (steady ).
Anyway, here we go.
Turret with Chipping (Yeah its harsh, but this is gonna be Battle Knarled and the dust and washes will tone it down).

I wanted to leave off the Chipping more on the Barrel to show a changed Barrel and this will be darkened some what to show this.






And back to the Rear Hull (well obviously John, we are into Tigers, we know which end is which ).

This afternoon, is a re-visit to the Rear Hull Exhaust Covers with oodles of MIG and AK Rust products.

The weird thing is that at 6'6" tall and 18 stone I would have had a problem myself but I slipped into it like a slippery thing in a slippery hole
I would have had it, but Diane did think I looked ridiculous in it .

Its funny now (or not), that now I know I have no chance of finishing the build in time, my time spent on it has increased in its enjoyment.
I had the Hull on its side yesterday afternoon (with Rupert, our new cat, diligently sat on desk watching every move but not once causing a problem, he sits like a statue with only his eyes following every movement of my hand, funny cat ), applying some MIG Dark Mud Pigment along the plates behind the wheels (no wheels on yet so nice and easy access), and then running some MIG Pigment Fixer into the Pigment.
Not to much that it looked ridiculously overdone, but sufficient to get some dark texture and grime in these areas (also under the Mud-Guards and around the Lower Rear Hull Plate and Front Plate. I will add some MIG Rubble Dust Pigments in and over this layer.
I then gave the whole of the Lower Hull a good dusting with this pigment. Its amazing how little you need of this to get a lovely dusty effect on the surfaces.
I also have finished applying the three Rusts to the Exhaust Covers with a small piece of sponge. I'm gonna leave that to dry thoroughly for a couple of days, before applying a wee bit of MIG Pigment Black Soot.
I want to get some of this Soot around the tops of the Exhausts and along the Rear Upper Hull. Also on the end of the barrel
Off to test more cars (well not me but Mrs DW ).
Hope to get some piccies up this afternoon if time permits (and the car hunting drags on).
I have been getting more and more annoyed at my pathetic pictures and yesterday whilst walking past some bins up the street, I found an almost (I can't find anything wrong with it and I have tried every part of it) Camera Tripod. This may help for a start with shaky hands (to much PE ).
I am thinking of constructing a basic Photo Box as well so I can get subjects lit better.

Now cars are like Marmite (Vegemite for our Aussie brothers, Brown smelly crap that we Limeys like on our toast for our Canadian and US brethren ). You like a model or you don't.

Well whilst I again wandered around the car lot (Sunny blue skies but the most biting cold wind) forlornly, with coffee provided by Sales-Team (Damn good coffee and out of a machine for Gods sake), Mrs DW goes for a spin in this car, that from the front looks like a little wide squat conventional small car......
From the side though
It looks like someone got tired with body-work fabrication and said "Bugger this mate, I'm off home".

She came back with scared looking Sales chap and promptly asked me to jump into front passenger seat and got the 6' Sales guy into the back-seats.
Off we go again (6' Sales Guy in back, 6'5" 18 stone me in Front passenger seat and Mrs DW (who is a brilliant driver) testing this car at speed and around town and over Speed-Bumps and in and up a Dual Carriage-Way
Seriously though.
The car is pretty good (not my cup of tea, cuz I had been sat in a Nissan Pathfinder, making the Leather seats slick with drool......that is probably the worst thing I have ever printed down on here ).
What a car. Totally not practical for my needs.
Anyway, she had it and that's a weight off my mind now.
I can get on with commuting to my new job and she has the ultimate economical car for getting her to work. Bish, bash bosh, sorted
So no time for modelling or photo taking yesterday afternoon .
I did before going to bed, get to load a brush with some MIG Pigments Smoke and rub a bit into Rear Exhaust covers.
Not bad, not bad at all.
The rust works and the smoke are bringing it all together.
This weekend off, with a quiet house should see pictures and progress.

Nissan pathfinder eh?
The wife and I are considering one as our next vehicle. We're looking for something with 4 wheel drive that has a track record. Most things that we've looked at have all wheel drive and look like a giant stepped on it's arse. No visibility in the rear.
We'll see.

Good afternoon

Just before turning the Chicken (no euphemism chaps )
I thought I would like to post some piccies of the Tiger.
So close, yet so far.
As Sunday draws to a close, progress was made.
The weathering was completed yesterday.
MIG Productions Black Soot was applied to engine decks and Barrel end.
Also added to tops of Exhaust Stacks.
Bit of Dry-Brushing with Model Air 71.063 Silver was applied to edges and along the Tow Cable.
Today was concentration on the Tracks.
The Fruil tracks were dipped into neat AK Burnishing Liquid.
My first time using the Fruil Tracks and this AK, and it was quite amazing stuff.
Noticed that it would not "Burnish" the bits touched with C/A (I guess the experts knew that already).
No probs as use of Panzer Aces 304 Track Primer was used to touch up these areas.
I'm super pleased with the look.
In some of the photos you can see the "Wet" Vallejo Model Wash 76. 505 Light Rust just drying on tracks.
So with out a due, here come some pictures .
The first picture shows the spare tracks mounted on the front MG plate as seen on so many photos of that era.



I have not finished with the tracks and lower running gear as they need weathering, washes and mud to finish.











So, unhappily that I'm afraid is all I can do this week before a very busy week at work.
I didn't meet the deadline, but boy I gave it my best shot .
I will finish this model off with a figure or two in my own time, and some kind of dio that I am determined to do.
I would like to say though, for my first SIG, and seeing all of the beautiful works carried out on here by accomplished builders and beginners, I am bowled away by the work put in on behalf of Guru Coen.

Afternoon all

Apologies for the drop in build up-dates.
Obviously the SIG is over and the brilliant builds digested by the judges.
With the change of my jobs (left my old job of 17 years on Saturday 11th April, very moving and the presents and send off over the days proceeding left me quite speechless).
So back to this build.
A simple diorama.
I have gone for the standard picture frame (The Range £2.99).
Glass out, and a piece of MDF cut to fit the aperture, and off we go.
I bought some DAS (Terracotta coloured) clay to mould an earth road-side.
This was then sprayed with various colours (Vallejo Model Colour, 70.826 German Cam. Med. Brown, Tamiya XF-78, Wooden Deck Tan, Tamiya XF-57 Buff).
The whole of this mound was then washed with Vallejo, Game Colour Wash,73.200, Sepia Shade).
The front was then dressed with Model Scene, Late Summer, Vegetation Mat.
A few rocks from the DW garden were glued into situ.

I bought some Tamiya Cobbled mat, cut to fit.

This was then treated with Tamiya, Black.
The whole thing was then Dry-Brushed with Vallejo, Model Colour, 70.993, White Grey.
I treated it to Mig Productions, Light European Earth (P415), Gulf War Sand (P037) and Russian Earth (P034).
This is my little wooden box from http://www.feildsofglory.co.uk. painted with Vallejo, Panzer Aces, 311, New Wood and 310, Old Wood. The whole thing was then washed with Burnt Umber Oil wash.
I'm going to leave this at the side of the road along with some Jerry-Cans and a Large Fuel Drum which I treated with the "Hair-Spray" Technique which is a first for me, and came off well.
The whole Fuel Drum was then treated to various washes, Dry-Brushed with Silver and rubbed all over the edges with a Graphite Stick.

I have finally finished my Panzer Tank Commander with Hornet Head.
He has been painted up, washed with oils.

Quite chuffed with the results.
The whole lower hull and around tracks and wheels was treated with a mix of Vallejo, Heavy Transparent Gel (Never used before but saw a brilliant vid on You Tube by Panzermeister36 using same stuff).
I got it this morning form http://www.emeodels.co.uk.
I mixed it with Vallejo, Model Colour, 70.826, German, Cam. Med. Brown (again), some sand.
It was then liberally applied to all tracks and lower hull in nice fat globs.
I also used the old brush and AB trick to create splatter.





I wanted a nice muddy tank straight out of a wet, muddy bog driving up a road. So any mud at the rear of the vehicle has been imprinted with the tracks (actually imprinted with the spare front Tamiya supplied piece, now in Spares box ).
I wanted gobs of mud on road coming off unit. As its sat in its stop position, gobs of mud are dropping off onto the road.

I have a few bit of titillating work to go but nearly there .
