I assembly line my figures.
That means that I pick a feature on the figures in common and paint them all at the same time.
I paint all the faces, then the uniforms, then the gear, then detail the faces, and so on.
When you are adding as many figures as I tend to do on many of my dioramas it's easier to do.
I'm not a very good figure painter, some times I do well, others not so much.
There is both with these fellas.
The resin figures and the two dragon gen2 figures looked ok to me, but the rest were crap.
In the beginning... Base coats
Then detail painting, and oil wash, then dry brushing

This fella has a cloak made from tissue paper. He's in a warmer dress then the rest of the fellas so I had to add some thing to make him more believable. So, camo blanke!
And to end it all off... A nice blurry pic of some steal painting
So.
The figures are done, the tank is done, and the vignette is done.
Here is a couple of pics of it, later I'll do the final reveal.
The matte spray is still drying in these shots.
And the white glue on the plaque is also still wet.
