Whew, I think I dodged the OCD bullet
She is back in a nice smooth coat of Ultimate white all three major components
Considered priming in black and grey, but since have muffed up already, thought I would just be straightforward
I am going to let this harden up for at least until Monday night and turn my attentions back to the 747

Wow that was really cool Scott. Did the easy off just remove the paint but leave the plastic completely OK?? I see it but it amazes me that you can do that. Very cool. Gives me a bit more assured-ness that I could that as well. I have a few on the reject bench that could use that also.

The oven clean did loosen the paint and then I used the cotton square to rub it away.
Anything hand painted came off easy and quick. I have had other paint just dissolve and you are right, be very careful with this so the oven cleaner doesn’t ruin the plastic. I didn’t leave it unattended.
Any sprayed primer areas stuck like a bugger and some took a bit of Mr Hobby thinner on a Q tip to help get rid of the last bits. Thankfully nothing needed any scraping so it left the plastic clean and smooth, then I re-scribed the panel lines.
After repainting the three major parts Ultimate white, I stuck the whole lot in a cabinet and turned my attention to the 747.
While Ca gluing the rear stabilizers into place, I knocked over the kicker bottle and spilt it all over my mat!
This is the third spill over of this particular bottle.
After a few adjectives involving F’s and S’s, I cleaned up, shut the lights off and closed the gd door.
Then I mixed a rum and coke
The painted Shuttle may get a few days to cure now that I am pissed off

Ya no worries. Kinda choked at the lost day, but I know I can make this look even better
It was ok for a space worn Shuttle, but this baby never left the atmosphere
Slapping on some Greenday and will clean it all off and rescribe
You will knock it out of the park mate, you always do
Almost missed you buddy in my paint frucus and spill spaz out
Thanks for the kind words

All you need is soda-pop and Ritalin.
I am impressed....Jesus of Suburbia
Not many people know that song, so you know your stuff, was actually listening to it when I read your post and had a glass of Diet Coke going, weird

no Ritalin mind you
Such an awesome song, kind of a next gen’s Bohemian Rhaspsody
There is a live version of the video that I really like, shows the bands interactions and stuff

Oh man, been there a few times as well with chemical spills. As a matter of fact, when I joined this spring here I spilled my glue, both TET and also with Plastruct that did major damage to my model and mat... twice. So... I made a glue holder with old plastic sprues from many old kits I had (and changed my name to sprue) as well. Here is a pic of them and I made two holders so far. I have not spilt glue since then or any micro-set/sol either. I do feel your pain.

thanks guys, just a little weekend drama for your entertainment
Now lets say it all together....if you don't clear coat, you will never get your panel line stains off
Clear coat first for God's sake

Also, finding a beautiful photograph of the actual subject 3/4 of the way through a build is not helpful either...showed way too many inaccuracies
Ah well

Thanks bud, it is getting there
White is a bit of a bugger to keep pristine when panel lining and such..seems if I look at it sideways there is another stain on the paint.
I have taken to wearing a white cotton clove when handling

Moving along with the shuttle, got her black accents painted, the rest of the panel lines done and the decals on
For the windows, I addded some crystal clear into the frame and then a toothpick with Ultimate gloss black...thusly I got black tinted crystal clear windows
Just jet engines, wing fillets, mounts for the Shuttle and windows and I am done

Ok the Shuttle is glued on the back of the 747 and I think it is done.
The Aluminum BMF is a bit more ragged in spots than I would like, need to look into other metal finish paints.
I finished a bit ahead of schedule, which is great.
BUT I am losing interest and mojo in doing build #2 Shuttle Challanger on Launch Pad minutes before its destruction.
The Oxide rust paint I received for the main fuel tank is nothing close to what I wanted, so a lot of mixing paint time and dicking around with it....meh F it.
There are other non ISM projects calling my name so I may vanish for a while

gents for all the support, suggestions and silliness...you are a great bunch of guys

I did not notice that as well. Hmmm being an American I should have seen that the flag should be in the position of flight. I guess this is where two Canadians are looking at each other saying... "The maple leaf is fine either way in our country" haha!

That is the decal makers doing.
The other side has the flag as if in flight...they just printed them one way and slightly out of square as well.
Learned something though, didn’t know that
I have seen the Canadian flag with the Maple Leaf carried upside down at a US baseball game...nasty

Yep, I think painting the lines and looking for some aftermarket US flag decals would be the way to go.
The NASA decals are well done and you could cut the 905 number away separately to place it in the correct location
Funny what one notices in photos AFTER being finished
Lee has helped me with the oxide paint, so the second Space Shuttle is a tentative go for launch
Although I have a clean desk and open time and lots of other stuff to do....
