It's been a little while but I'm on the final push to get this done now so it's update time

External fuel tanks added as well as the remaining white under the fuselage, also did the arresor hook but didn't take a picture so I will show that later. This is also how I'm thinking of mounting it albeit in level flight.

Thanks everyone :D :cheers2:

The Intruder is nearly complete after painting the nose, odds and ends, tail and the canopy.

Firstly the arestor hook I forgot last time
Image

My eyes are going to need a day to recover tomorrow as no masks were harmed in the painting of the canopy because I decided I couldn't be bothered to create masks but could be bothered to carefully paint the intruders tricky canopy  - the mind works in mysterious ways. Don't think it could have gone much better :D

Here it is half way through
Image
Image

Completed
Image
Image

The canopy is a terrible fit, if I hadn't painted the cockpit before attaching the fuselage halves I could have sanded it down but alas I shall have a fun evening filling the huge gap tomorrow.
Image

The gap was the only way I could get it to line up at the front
Image

Image

Here she is at the end of the session, gap aside I am happy.

Thanks Ian - :) yes I need to sort that lid out :thumb1:

Onto the update folks

I made the refueling probe for the Tomcat with some wire and putty - hopefully it looks decent although my camera doesn't seem to want to focus on the part I want to show :wall:

Image

Image

In addition to patching up various areas of the Tomcat I painted and weathered the exhausts, which I will give another session once I have got the support rods permanently fixed when I know the final position.

Image

Image

Speaking of positioning here is the 2 aircraft together for the first time, looking at this I will need to decide whether I want the photograph/ backdrop to be underneath the aircraft or behind to determine the thickness of the support mountings.

Thanks Nigel and Shane :D

The Tomcat is now finished apart from the decals, very pleased with how it looks. As with the Intruder the canopy was a poor fit and took a bit of work. The pylons, missiles and drop tanks while detailed had no locating points/ pins so proved extremely fiddly to stick. This set is one of those that fights you the whole way but produces a fine product at the end.

I am now in the process of building the refueling boom and constructing the diorama base, I suspect I will call this the last update before the reveal :cheers2:
