Kinda of enjoying it, not sure I like all of the Masking and stuff.
I think the Clear Plastic provided Gun-Sight is lost in the midst of the hundred of places a tiny plastic piece can shoot into.
The wooden floor is a good idea, yet things still ping off into oblivion.

Morning all

So the aftermath of the "Explosion" at the hotel on The Archers still causing problems........
After a session on this,

Which I have set-up on my Cyclops Max Indoor Trainer, and a session with Rubber Tube Resistance in the solace of my home, I managed a good workout, now Gym has closed.
I, on advice from Matt, pulled my finger out. and got some paint down on this plane.
Mr Hobby Primer straight from can. Will with a coat of this, my dithering over Joints, Rivets and Panel-Lines, is coated in this fine product.
It needs to dry, but it doesn't half look bad for first coat.

Unfortunately, that was all I did, as I was called away by a VIP on the phone, my Mum.
Happy Mothers Day to my Mum and all Mum's across the world.

Really, really lovely. Covers beautifully well and one coat would suffice but I always go for a light misting of a 2nd coat.

Not a lot to report to be honest.
Covid-19 and working from home has had me employed on lots of other tasks that Mrs DW has conjured up from nowhere

Well, methodical as I am, I have jumped some parts out of kilter and suddenly when reading through instructions, realised I had left off Exhaust Shrouds (PE). Indicated by old Xacto Blade and Tamiya PE File...

Soon sorted, and Primed.
Then blow me (steady ), I have left off Ariel. Indicated PE part by Brush end.

Stuck on and primed again .
So here we have Fuselage, Drop-Tank and Propeller all primed and ready to go.
Honest to God, I will lay some proper paint down this weekend.

Evening all

Its been weird couple of weeks in the DW house as of late.
So, Mrs DW still in Furlough, and, where she was able to carry out some work on Lap-Top from home, this has been brought to an end, as she is not supposed to work whilst in Furlough.
As I look after a couple of schools that are still open for Key Workers, I have been travelling to work on a Wednesday and Friday for 1/2 a day in work. Its all about the Social Distancing at present, and at work, it seems to be fine.
You would have thought in these days of more time at home, Modelling would be a priority? It would seem not .
I have been once to Man-Cave in the last week. The house has never looked more spotless, and little jobs I have mean't to do around house, but not had time, have finally been completed.
The work, on the Garden, has culminated in this area having been ripped of 50 years of Shrubbery, to this.


In the distance, close to Man-Cave, you can see the Tree Trunk I extracted from under corner of M/C block-paving foundations, that had been in there for years. Finally yanked out.
The Gunsight for this model finally arrived from www.1001models.com on Saturday, all the way from Paris, which explains the time it took

This was how we left the 109, in its primed state.

The Apex was loaded with Vallejo Off White and some panel shading carried out.

The whole thing then was sprayed with a coat of RLM 76 (Light Blue) by AK.


Thats as much as I could do today.
This needs to dry thoroughly before additions of yellow are made to Fuselage and under Nose area.
My Dad of 84, who with my Mum of 83, are in isolation an hour away, sent us a very moving video the other night. It really broke me down. I want to give them both a hug, but I can't. We are like many families at present, cut off and lost.
He sent me a picture he had found in the house of himself, holding my Sister amd taken in 58, when I was four, I'm the grinning lad.
He said on the Whatsapp message, I always loved Tanks and Armour..........

Evening all

And a very pleasant evening it is too in the UK, unusually warm and fine weather for an Easter Bank Holiday in the UK. Normally peeing it down.
Despite the ongoing Covid-19, Lockdown, Mrs DW and myself have been very industrious in house and Garden.
Just completed this morning (in two days ), the decorating of the Dining Room (Cappuccino, not my choice but it was in paint stash from last house). Two coats of White Emulsion on ceilings, and two coats of Brown, yes its Brown , on walls. Carpet cleaned with our Bissell last night, and furniture back in, bright and clean as a button. Total cost? Zilch, nil, nothing. Just a bit of sweat and tears.
Mrs DW would not let me in Man-Cave till this was finished, so lot of Carrot and Stick, and it worked.
So here I am tapping away to you all, whilst the best of the Indiana Jones films plays on BBC1 (Raiders of the Lost Ark), and Mrs DW feeds me crackers and Cheese, and I quaff a glass or two of Doom Bar, Amber Ale
So having had a lovely nap this afternoon after my exersions. Did I also say, that despite not being an Electrician, and hating Electrics, and with good reason (my Dad says, anything you can't see i.e. Electric and Gas, leave to the experts). I managed to change a Pendant Light. Its no big deal, but as I said, I would rather pay a chap than balls it up, not least ballsing it up is lethal
Anyhoo, finally I got to goin M/C, with door propped open as it was like a sauna in there
I surveyed the endeavours of my last visit. The main coat had gone down with no hitches and looks superb. This is how it looked from last week.

So, first things first, the Gun-Sights that came from www.1001models.com, needed a little cleaning up, being Resin.

So having cleaned them up, a little Vallejo Black Paint was laid down by Hairy Stick. They will need some Dry-Brushing and the Glass added but nothing to complicated.

Your right to ask, why all three? Well I have lost one already, so chances are I'm due another .
These are the Instructions by the way.

These were then set aside to dry along with the two tiny Nose Machine Guns.
It was then onwards with the thing I dread, Masking Up ready for the Mr Hobby Yellow. Lots of Tamiya Masking Tape applied along nose area with Tweezers, Instruction Pamphlet and an awful lot of cussing and swearing Also the Fuselage band which required its Yellow stripe.

Then, load the Apex (God I love my Apex , despite having an H&S Evolution, I still find myself using this over and over again), and keeping the pressure low and with fine coats, down went the Yellow.
I also masked off the Propeller for its Vallejo Off White panel. Not totally crystal clear on precise area to be coated white but I got it in the end.
I will let the images do the talking.





I left the Man-Cave super chuffed and extremely pleased with results.
So as my Cheese (St Agur), Water Biscuits, another Pint of Doom are quenched and the iconic scene in Indiana Jones, where he's fighting Pat Roach (Aufedersein Pet......) under the ever rotating Plane........(I'm sure thats available in Kit version).

I cheated for going with the All Over colour scheme, but glad I did, as it looks really stunning in flesh. so to speak.
The Gun-Sight is so much better than the supplied, now residing somewhere in the M/C but forever lost, till we meet again.....
The Lenses will need a uber sharp blade and some teasing and swearing to get them right. Good thing lots of spares provided.

Well, with beautiful weather in UK over Easter Bank Holiday, I got out the Sherwood Green from Wickes and gave the Man-Cave a coat of preservative.

So having given the model a couple of coats of Future Floor Polish (it smells lovely when spraying it through Apex).
We are left with this,


And this afternoon, I started the laborious addition of loads and loads of Stencils / Decals and of course Decals galore.
This is just one side completed. Still have other side, Wings both top and bottom. A few plays on Radio and some strong coffee, got me through this job. I just dont enjoy adding decals
Its a job that i remembered that put me off Winged Things.

I won't bore you with each stage, but next photos will be complete........or model sticking out of bin

Well as Matt21 said, I did seem to be sitting on the proverbial rear end, and not doing much at all with this build.
I popped into work this morning, I left at 05:30 and travelled along the A50 towards Uttoxeter, and whilst this road even at this time, would have a fair bit of traffic, Zilch, Nothing, Nada....
Ended up 2nd in queue at Tesco in Uttoxeter to stock up on basics, then on to Stafford and work, to catch up on Goss and generally find out how Team are doing in these weird times.
What a Team , keeping the Schools ticking over, and clean and spick and span. I have lost one of my best Cleaners to the dreaded Covid-19, but hope and pray she pulls through
Having spent a good part of the day in Stafford, it was home on a relatively empty roads, and a trip that takes between 50mins - 1 hour, took 35 minutes
Mrs DW had been Spring Cleaning top-side of house, and had worked herself to a dead faint in the Garden , when I got home. So whilst she relaxed in her Sun Lounger, and she caught well earned rays, I got on with some work on this bird.
Boy, I really got on
So Propeller on, Wheels on and Gun-Sight installed.
Then the process of removing Canopy Masks, and even if I do say so myself, Good God I nailed it .
I mixed up some Odourless Thinners, and a dab of Lamp Black and some Grey and gave all of those Panel Lines and crevices a wash. Left to dry, and will adjust tomorrow. Then I will dust with Pigments, especially on lower wings and Wheels, I need some Black soot around Exhausts and Guns, and apart from one peice of PE (the Canopy Stick Thing that holds up open Canopy.........), that will be it. I even used some AK Rigging Thread to do the Radio Ariel (another first for me, great product).

Good morning fellow stretchers of Sprue and users of various Glues (that did not sound good )

Hope you and your loved ones are good?

So, yesterday afternoon in the UK, was quite a treat weather-wise. The Sun was out, and having worked from home in the morning, to about Midday, I mowed the Lawns and Strimmed the edges.
The afternoon was not so good .
I realised my Bank Debit Card was due to expire at the end of the month. This was flagged up by Amazon, as this card was Expired. It wasn't, but you get the picture
Not having seen a replacement card in Post, I contacted Bank, and that was a complete loss of two hours I'll never get back
Pushed from Pillar to Post.
Even told that this was not high priority. I explained to the nice Girls on Chat, that I was currently shopping for four over 84's who were in Isolation. That did keep me hanging on
Although, nothing came of it, and I still have no card. Just need to keep eye on post.
I then spent another hour on phone to Mortgage Provider, trying to find out where my application for Mortgage Holiday was. Three weeks since we applied and nothing happening. The email I sent to the email address given, has been terminated, and now we have to reapply
So having come back into Garden, fuming and wound up to merry hell. Mrs DW, knowing me well, says,
"Don't go into M/C and Model, you'll Balls it up"
Shes right, she knows me to well.
Did I listen, did I hell As she lay on Sun Lounger with Kindle in one hand and a Cold Glass of something French in the other, I stride off to M/C.
So where are we with this model as of Thursday afternoon?
We left it at this stage,



Last piece to attach from model, is a thin, uber small piece of PE that holds up Canopy, like a 1/48 scale Bonnet / Hood stick
That with a fine Tweezers gets some C/A either end and carefully attached.
I re-check Instruction, once and again for anything left off,I have missed. Nothing.
Next job, some Pigments.
First, Mig Pigments, Black Smoke, P023. Tiny bit on the end of Q-Tip / Baby-Bud and applied to Exhaust Outlets and MG ports. Residue wiped off with a clean Bud.

Same again with Mig Pigments, Light European Earth, P415, again with Q-Tip around Wheels, Undercarriage bays and Undercarriage struts, then along all of the underside of Wings and Fuselage. Residues removed again with clean Bud.
I then used a brilliant product from AK, weathering pencils.
I bought the Green set for Armour some months ago, and was really impressed.
I bought the Grey / Light Blue set for this model.
Applied along Panel lines on Wings on top-side, Front to back, i.e. Slipstream, and Feathered out with a damp brush.
Really fantastic effect. Its difficult to see but really easy and wonderful effect.
Last effect, was some AK Engine Grime applied with a fine tipped Brush to Engine areas and in and around Exhaust Outlets. Nothing to much, just a mere suggestion of Oil. I need to remove a tiny, tiny piece of thread on down part of Ariel / Rigging Thread. I think the Front Canopy part could be a bit tighter to Fuselage, but not worrying to much.
That, concluded that. Don't add more, or you'll spoil it.
Mrs Dior (Fashion Queen), advised Ladies when dressing to go out and wow, take the last item you put on , off. Basically, don't overdo it.
I feel, with all these amazing products available, that we all, to a certain extent, overdo Weathering at times. I know I'm a massive culprit.
I have tried to keep Chipping and Weathering effects to the bare minimum with this model.
Am I happy with this model and build?
Yeah, its been interesting and frustrating, and taught me new tricks that I haven't accomplished in 35 Years
By the way, Mrs DW.....You were wrong about modelling when frustrated, sometimes, just sometimes, it works
