Ya the brass will win. It is much more stable, nice even curves just good and strong.
The base copper will get painted body colour and an extra silver thin band placed along the bottom to hold in the glass
The glass has to be made, so vacuum formed acrylic. It is Impossible to do that to styrene, but ok with brass metal.

Looking at them side by side now, I think the brass is better, the base definetly looks sturdier.

If I had known you needed a new windscreen surround I could have sent you one - this kit came with a chrome sprue and the same sprue without chrome!

What are you going to use to chrome the brass?

Well I can go two ways:
Alclad black base + Alclad chrome
or
Molotow Chrome Spray

I will likely do the Alclad as that is what I used for the chrome under the body's blue AND b/c the screen is likely to be handled a bit and Moltow does not like to be fondled.

Only one slowing my build is me...and all the stuff to make. All my own fault

I have left Molotow for a couple weeks after spraying and it hardened up quite well...motorcycle brake disks

I spent the evening last night and some of this Saturday morning making a Cobra gas cap
It is a pretty iconic marking of these cars






Got a solid brass rod, rounded the end, added a brass sleeve around it and then some rectangles of brass for the hinges and a little rod for the cap pivot. Soldered it all together



Then began cutting the rod using my scary broken razor saw...I use an old blade so it doesn’t matter if I break it.





Test on the car...not bad


Then I looked in my Fujimi kit and saw it had two gas caps...hold up, wait a minute, huh?? ?!
So I scrapped my brass one and will use the Fujimi kit part.
Time well wasted I suppose

I am solidly lazy enough to use what I can find as spares
I went through the rest of the instruction parts layout to see what was not used.
Only one set of mirrors, no extra clear glass headlights, just this extra gas cap...two exact duplicates

Got some pins into the end of the windshield then used some white paint to help mark the drilling location onto the body
This would have been easier to do BEFORE paint and clear, but, ya.
Kinda nerve wracking drilling into a complete paint job knowing you have zero room for error.
My home made gas cap is growing on me, I like its proportions

Nice progress, I have the 427 revell kit that I built many moons ago in a box, will have to drag it out and maybe rebuild it as well.

Step 2: Hide the purchase from Mrs. Twokids
Step 3: Design the blank for the headlamp interior using 3D modeling software
Step 4: Print the blank using a high temp material
Step 5: Vaccuform lenses

I have a week vacation and am hoping to push this build to the finish line

Has been a good morning for me as I spent it going through parts bin and stash kits looking for parts
I have found:
Round headlights from a Fujimi flatnose Porsche that had extra round covers not used at all
Tail lights and front signal lights from clear parts bin
Chrome rear view mirror from parts bin
AC decal arrived from the UK...I took a pic, reduced the size and printed it out. Will make the steering wheel center cap with that.



So all I need are windshield wipers, rear bumper, trunk handles and to make the front windshield to fit my brass frame.
I am getting there

Hollow ground the headlights backings, started bending the rear bumper and made a rear hatch handle
