Thanks Stokesy and Mpfiend, your positive remarks throughout the build process helped us keep the mojo along the way. I read all the comments to Jarrod as he really enjoys that.

Jarrod was influential in choosing our next build and it is something we haven't seen built in a long time. It runs on a track but also pulls things around too.... ?????

I'm rather partial to a German half track SD-KFz7 or Famo SD-KFz9 so I am hoping this will be your next build.

Assuming it's not limited to 1/16 we can probably rule out a locomotive as Neil built one of those. It's likely to be a artillery or munitions tractor possibly even a dozer. Which I wouldn't mind seeing any of these. Don't think it's a APC or half track.....

Thanks for following our build. We really appreciated the feedback, suggestions, and motivation along the way. While this was our first 1/16 tank model, it will not be our last. Actually my wife was impressed enough with the results that she suggested we get another 1/16 tank kit, perhaps the Andy's Hobby's 1/16 Whitman Tiger Tank (?). But then Neil also got me thinking about a Cold War Soviet 1/16 kit

While we know it is not perfect, we are satisfied with our results and ready to move on to our next build. After looking at the photos, let us know what you think of it. Till next time!

Well - as you say you are tempted by Cold War Soviet and you obviously like playing with mud effects - heres something to "encourage" you on those lines:


For the curious - its a BMP-1 class vehicle (actually a Czech OT-90) hitting what was thought to be a mud patch but which turned out to be a rather deep mud puddle at full speed (45 KpH).

You should have seen the view from the drivers seat - there were about 15 photographers ahead of us and to say they ran is an understatement -- all but the one who took this photo moments before being hit by 2 mud walls in quick succession......

We forgot about Neils great work on that locomotive digger, it is indeed a large scale though. I do have my eye on a German halftrack in 1/16 but that is not it either. Yes, we do have a large scale dozer as well as a munitions tractor with a towed 155 howitzer and crew, but nope, that's not it either (good guesses though). OK, you sort of guessed it. It is a mid 1800's locomotive engine and tender in 1/25 scale made years ago by MPC called the General.



That is really neat Neil, we would've loved to see it all in action. During my years in West Germany (in the 80's) I got to spend a little time crawling over a BMP, BRDM, BTR-70, T-62, and a few other Soviet block vehicles while training in Graf numerous times. I was also exposed to a couple Soviet vehicles like the ZPU-4, BMP, and a couple others when deployed to Grenada. It sure looks like your having fun taking it thought its paces. Great times and a wonderful living military history lesson. As for your temptation with Soviet military vehicles, you, Neil, are a dangerous man!.........But if they had a BMP in 1/16 I think I would be all over it.

Just for info - Trumpeter do a 1/16 T-72 (700+ parts 27 sprues) and a T-72B1 with Kontakt-1 reactive armour (1100+ parts, 26 sprues).
I was going to go for the later 72B1 - but then JetMad announced a second run of their 1/32 Viggen and, well... , Viggens rule in this house.....
