Could try blurring the props although I don't know how to do that effectively.

I do have a spare one, maybe take the razor saw to it

Nice work with the blurred base... instead of hacking the prop up how about streaking it to match the blur of the disk but leave it darker?

Yes. Make a flat black blur and take off the blades
