The Panzer II, Zis gun, and Figures look great......love the rifling detail on the Zis gun barrel......cool.

Unfortunately i did not manage it to take more pictures of the building process, but you will see it in realtime with a few cuts in my last part of the video documentation, i think thats alright

However, i will quickly describe what i did, it wasn´t very complicated:


Thats the diorama base after i applied three layers of "Fimo air basic" modelling clay on the styrofoam. It is necessary to apply a couple of layers because during the drying process the surface starts to crack. Those cracks can be visible on the finished diorama so in order to avoid that i add layer after layer until the surface does not crack anymore.

Then it is time to apply the actual ground of the diorama. As always i used a mixture of earth from my garden, wood glue and water. I mixed it together and applied a thick layer of it on the diorama. In the still wet surface you can add track prints and so on.
Finally i added the tank, gun, figures, ammo box, sheels and some grass tufts. It was necessary to match the tone of the mud on the tank, the gun and the figures with the mud on the diorama, so i simply brushed some of it on those models.
When the whole thing was dry i painted the border of the diorama with black paint.

The way i build my dioramas is quite simple and usually simple things are the most successful! so don´t be scared of building dioramas, usually the materials do not cost a lot so even if you mess it up it won´t be bad.
The best way to depict mud and dirt on a diorama is real dirt, as simple as that cheers!
