A floundered Spit diorama? Sounds awesome
Nice to see one of the pilots is a sergeant, good representation of the breakdown of RAF aircrew in WW2

Thank you.
It was really hard to want to start weathering her as I like a clean build
But once I started, it just goes along.
The Ultimate Washes are nice as are water/clay based and can be wiped away if you do too much

Great work. Will she ever fly again?
Lovely anecdote from the Battle of Britain - a pilot nursed his badly damaged Hurricane back to base during the height of the fighting. Expecting glowing congratulations from the flight sergeant, instead he was met with the following - 'Couldn't you have bailed out Sir? I could have got a brand new aircraft delivered here in the morning! Now we'll have to repair this thing instead!'

Must admit - what I loved most about the finished build (apart from the excellent quality of the build) was the inclusion of the dog!!

Funny story
This will be more of a whoopsie on landing on soft grass. No prop damage and just a couple wheels wronged
If I get back to it

Cheers Kev.
They are acceptable, not super and yet passable

Can't wait to see the resin cockpit as I'm starting my first true work with my resin engine on my Hellcat ; and planned to build a resin cockpit too for a future spitfire in my stash.
And love BNA as a store...even if they are all across the planet from me, they still deliver faster and cheaper then other store ; and have a lot of items I can't find near me.

Ya it is not bad at all
Good to build it now when I am fresh off researching the MkI
Also nice to keep a cockpit displayed open so to see the detail we usually close up almost completely

will look great in cross section. I would really struggle with the etched parts

Ya right, it will look better opened up.
I am thinking one side wall up and one completely flat and then pose the whole thing slightly tilted so you can really look right into the cockpit

Done a couple resin things
Razor saw to cut iff from the base
Try to keep your dust down, have a wet paper towel down when scraping or sanding... or wet sand
The stuff can be brittle so careful with small parts. When you lightly prime, the detail stats to pop out at you
I will have to try BNA....lots of Aussies love it!

SO I am painting the Spitfire seat a brick red and the back cushion and headrest will get a brown leather treatment.
It suddenly donned on my thick skull why the Spit seat is shaped so deep like it is....the pilot sits on his parachute! Duh
It would fit right into the rectangle on the seat bottom.
Once again, duh

Thus think was primed Ultimate grey and then Tamiya cockpit green
Seat base and leather with W/N oils
So I think I will need to display this with both sides flopped open laterally
Things cramp up real tight when you start putting the seat, sides and members in there.
Might even tip the control panel one forward on an angle to be better viewed

Mate
Leather so easy with a tan acrylic base and then W/N oils brushed over. just takes some patience to let it dry and pad out the brush marks just before that point.
Interestingly, there is much variation in these old birds as they developed over their versions. So I am trying to stick with a couple photos of MkIβs and not deviate too far.
A little tighter photo of the base and sides cleared ready for weathering
