Been stupidly busy at work of late what with the run up to the end of the school year, so no modelling has gotten done, though I did find some time to put some pictures in frames

Ok, after looking at some more of the awesome bench photos in this thread I looked around the house for some wood and built myself a little paint rack and did some reorganizing on the bench. Didn't take me longer than a couple of minutes to throw it together as I found some parts of an old wooden shelf that already had grooves.

I know it's not as nice as what some of you guys have, but for now I'm pretty happy with it.

So here is my current, updated work bench minus the cutting mat, which is still on the floor, because I forgot to put it back before taking the photo.
To my left there is another large shelf that holds all my other tools and materials, but I'd rather not show that as it is pure chaos.

I obviously buy too much paint. Found some more wood in the garage and build a second shelf.

Thanks, a little art sure does goes a long way. Just need the time to sit at the bench now to admire the pictures erm, build more models.

How do chaps,

Here's what I've been working on over the past few weeks. The shed is 7 x 11 and is insulated with 25mm Celotex and then clad in 16mm wood and the floor is 18mm ply over insulation.

Just need to sort out a few bits and the electrics. Then I have to decide whats going where. Only downside is I have to share it with all the gardening crap!

Hi everyone ! Here's my workspace that I've just finished ! Made the paint rack while the live show was going on. I'm really happy with the set up and it's the first permanent place I ever had. Just got back doing models. Starting with military modeling for the first time. I have all my paints, glues, thinners and a few other things in the rack. DOn't have that much paint yet as I see other people. With the desk that I made myself a few years ago they are two drawers with sanding papers, gloves, tweezers, masking tape and a few other small tools.
The closet just beside contains my stach, books, magazines and weathering stuff inside the metal box. I'm currentlly working on the SUbaru Impreza 2001 wich is a car that I previously owned. It is almost finish.You can also see in there my brand new Iwata Eclise HP_CS airbrush. But haven't use it yet because my compressor broke. Since I just started militiray modeling, my two ultime goals when I'll have better skills are the Dragon King Tiger and the Revell Memphis Belle. Two beautiful kits with great details and a bit harder then the others I have. Hope everyone likes it and open to suggestion for improvements.

Not ideal and can get quite cold at times but it does the trick and I'm a happy model maker

It's a bugger not having enough space and having to set benches up all the time, but what a clever idea with the modeling suitcase...

I have recently invested in furniture of my hobby room.
As you see, to purchase a fridge was inevitable in order to preserve all CA glues in this quite warm summer.



Primarily thought for adhesives, I found some space left inside the fridge. I could not imagine what this could be used for, until someone suggested to put in some beer cans. What a brilliant idea. I wish I had this idea myself. I worry that I had fully used it for choc without this idea. Maybe I have to sniff more TET or LT (with retarder, of course) to broaden my phantasy …



Also very important was to extend the safety equipment for the hobby room.
As you can see here, I purchased a hand held fire extinguisher. It maybe look like a common beer can, if you look closer, you see detailed instructions how to use it.



Short translation for all non german speaking fellows here:

Fire extingishuer
Lift the safety lever
Point toward the fire source
Extinguish the source of fire

Fire classification
A Water
B Foam
C Carbonic acid

My responsibility tells me, even in environments which seem to be as harmless as a hobby room, we absolutely have to obey safety precautions.

Been adding a few pictures (on the walls) recently, and also some new ISM Stickers.....pictures via Ebay, and frames from Ikea at £2 each...think it adds a bit homeliness to it.
Would never get away with those pictures in the house...

Nice setup gazmat. I need to get one of those mini spray booth thingies off eBay. I have seen them going for about £60. Currently I am using the kitchen cooker hood fitted with extra filter material. I know I keep saying this but can you tell I am single?

The good thing about living the illegible bachelor life as a scale modeller, is you can:

[*]Wash brushes in the bathroom sink
[*]Scrub modelling mats in the bath
[*]Wash sprues in the kitchen sink, then let them sit on the draining board to dry
[*]Don't get nagged to tidy up after yourself

cheap ebay ones are ok....just, as long as your not using a big AB and vent to the outside world. Let someone else breathe the nasties...

Be aware there is 2 models, a 3cfm and a 4cfm. I have the 3cfm and as I said it is just ok.

Over the weekend I remembered that we have a nice desk up in the loft that would make an excellent work desk, so I spent yesterday clearing up the loft and putting it back together . I had been look at cheap make do one, but this one is actually quite a nice one that we had to put up there because we needed room when our daughter was born . The photo is in black and white as this is the clearest I could get it

I've just got to sort out the electrics (we have power, it will just involve what I hope will be some basic rewiring to turn the light switch into a plug socket) and also get some proper floorboards down; the previous owners used old doors and until now I've never had a reason to change them, but for a work area they are unsuitable, but okay for the short term until I get some proper boards in

Nice loft work space! My loft has too many horizontal beams, at head height if you're on your hands and knees! Luckily I have a 2nd bedroom which I've turned into an illegible bachelor's Man Cave! Which I could probably do with rearranging slightly...

Dusted off my old Pentax K100D, DSLR, with Sigma 10-20mm lens at 10mm.

What I'm thinking of doing, is moving the computer / monitor to the right hand desk (where the printer / computer tower currently sits), leaving my the rest of the L shape for modelling at. The desk itself is a various bodge together of an assortment of Ikea work tops and legs, and an old MFI desk.....
