Just updated my hobby room with some new shelving. The room is still a post Christmas mess as everything's been dumped in there. The tree and decorations now live under the desk

I'm ashamed to confirm that there are 4 Tamiya Spitfires in that baking tray. I found them in my parents loft, I must have built them some 15+ yrs ago and never gotten round to finishing them. I am determined to finish them as one cannot have too many Spitfires.

Well I have been lurking around here for a while and seeing as I now have a work area I thought I'd share a photo.
Also a pic of my display cabinet; 2 complete, 2 works in progress, and well, the stash is leading the race. There's more hiding in the cupboard lol.

I would like to use my spray booth as a make shift photo booth. Once I get that worked out I'll be able to post up some decent photos.

That is a great model area, you are well set up. Loving the paint shelves ,wood walls and nice big window.
The display cabinet is magnificent...did you build or buy it???

Hi Twokids, I bought the display cabinet and refurbished it as it was pretty run down. I actually bought two of them and pinched the glass shelves from one to have more in the other. So I currently have one out in the garage with no shelves in it lol.
The paint rack I realised was too small the first moment I started loading it with paint.

I need to get a decent display cabinet

That is the best way to do it, Scott! Refurbish something into what you want and better than it was before.

One of the dilemmas of a big window is awesome natural light, but no space for paint shelves
You would have to shift your desk to the right and get shelves up on the wall there.
Got the same problem in my studio with two windows

Was thinking the same thing. Also because these bricks keep producing dust fro some reason.. and you don't want that in the room where you paint your models.

Can't you place the desk up against the other wall with the windows on your left shoulder...its a compromise.

Nice work station. A paint booth in the bathroom is a great idea. Not a sure hit with the missus, but if the tiles need a new finish… I reckon you got a good set up for that too.

I painted the floor in one of our crawl spaces

It takes out the dust and damp feel and seals all the concrete from water. Makes the space much nicer to go into.
It would do the same with brick or cement blocks

The bathroom is connected with my working are and it has window and an extractor on the ceiling .
Reference the tiles , I might use them to do some graffiti and improve my airbrush techniques

An updated photo as requested... got a 2nd 3 tier shelf today now that I know they fit on the bookshelf

It may not be my modeling work area, but it is my real work area and models are there. It's my office desk. Some are models I built, some are diecast with decals I applied and some are just plain old die cast. Sometimes after people see them they bring me one as a gift. They are multiplying. I'll post my modeling work area once I get it presentable.

It is a pretty fun group build to do, but sneaks up on people and they forget to get a kit in time

A nice tidy workspace Pete, one benefit of moving house

Since I returned to modeling a few years ago, I've had grand ideas of what I'd like my modeling space to look like. In the beginning it was using an old computer desk that didnt really afford a lot of work space and it was easily cluttered as I obtained more and more supplies and tools.

Here is what I started with:


Last week, while searching the online for sale adds, I came across an adjustable work bench and a nicer chair. I picked both up for $60 USD. Fortunately my wife has allowed me to continue the goal of renovating my work area. So now, I have actually moved things around and the renovation is taking place.
Here is where I am today!

Very nice workstations. Why be any where else?

Hi Norm the reason we moved was we lost the house due to me not be able to work for the last 5 years because of my illness we just ran out of money we knew it would happen one day and it did,well I hope for now we have opened a new chapter as for the illness only him up stairs knows that answer??? There are quite a few nice looking work benches on here! Nothing like having a space you can call your own!

Here is what the space looks like now, a bit different that the previous picture.

Finally getting the modelling space squared away. I'll end up building shelves for the paint; but, this is much better than I ever thought I'd have.

Totally envious of all the space you have to yourself.....still others have less I guess, but it is nice to have that bit extra.

Not much, it's small but it's very messy, it's enough for the stuff i have. I normally have my laptop on the left side, always at hand for the quick glance at the reference pics... Lately i've been thinking of buying a spray booth, will do it at some point, masks become uncomfortable after a few minutes so i guess it won't be too long before i make or buy something for that purpose... but that couch has to go and a new table has to be brought in for that... And i also have to buy some more lighting, will be good for modelling and photography.

Seat? Check. Bench? Check. Looks great to me! And everything is in reach

Yup, it's probably better than a lot of folks have it, i can say i've got all i need to do what i love...

I'll be moving to a new house in three weeks and here's how the new hobby room looks like at the moment.
