Lovely tools that will get used for sure.
I've looked at the chopper before and the RPZ tools one and I think I like this the best as the entire chopper bed can be turned to the required angle
very quickly and is possibly ( not used it so don't know for sure) less finicky.
The blade used has it one bevelled cutting edge or 2 ?

There are two edges to the blade. I must say I am very disappointed with the blade.



They could have chosen to use the universally implemented notches but instead, put in two holes making the blade proprietary. The blades are $1.50 each, which in itself is crazy expensive, but check out the shipping!


I will need to find a different solution for the blades.

Wow that shipping is ridiculous for a packet that weighs less than 100gms.

I do know that it is possible to get a blade that is only ground on one side in the US, but it is super hard to find. One of the
guys from a USA based podcast hunted one down for a chopper.

It should be possible to grind off ( file ) the pins off the blade holder so you can use any blade.

I remembered it was Will Patterson's podcast ( plastic posse) from some time ago. He knows were to find those single edge blades. If you drop him a line I'm sure he would be able to point you in the right direction.

The other thing is the decal sheet is beyond repair. The tissue cover has been left on and its stuck to the decals. Someone has tried peeling it off - and its taken chunks of the decals with it....

Thanks for the kind offer sir. I suspect you may find a similar issue but even if they are OK the decal sheet is in 4 parts, the 3 individual squadron markings - and the common ones they all use. You will need those yourself.

Yeah I was a bit miffed when I opened the box and found the outer faces primed. I am lucky it seems though - all the parts are there on the sprues bar one wing surface that is loose in the box. The seller should have said it had been started in the ad. I would have bought it anyway but at least I would have known.

I made this kit as a lad in the 80s, even then I thought screw being the guy in the dustbin turret! I live a few miles from RAF Upper Heyford where these bombers began their service in the 1933. A 100mph biplane with open cockpit and fixed undercarriage armed with Lewis guns in the mid 30s, incredible! Imagine operating these in winter, From Wikipedia:

"On 12 December 1936, disaster struck one of these long-range exercises; a flight of seven Heyfords of No. 102 Squadron, stationed in Northern Ireland encountered fog and icy weather conditions on their approach to RAF Finningley, Yorkshire. Of these seven aircraft, four crashed and two had to make forced landings, resulting in the deaths of three crewmen and a further three sustaining injuries."

I would definitely message the seller and negotiate a discount or return. It isn't fair to misrepresent an item even if unintentional. APC make decals BTW. APC Heyford Decals

I'm waiting till I finish the kit so I have a full list of missing/damaged parts. Currently the list stands at:
1 x (optional) engine intake missing
Rear gunners windscreen missing
1× upper machine gun damaged
Decal sheet is useless.⁸
And of course that horrible thick grey primer on everything

Those are the decals I bought, but thank you for the pointer. I appreciate the assistance. Only place I could find them in stock on-line at the time was a shop in the Czech Republic. Hopefully they will be here in a week or two.

T- rex is producing a lot of 3d track that looks great.

Friul usually require the pin holes cleared out with something like a 0.5mm drill. Then the pins cut to length from a coil of wire.
Tedious - but - they do look so much better than plastic or rubber!

I'll probably stick with Friulmodel for this kit since it's initial production run with the mirror tracks. I doubt anyone else makes them . . . unless I'm wrong.

Agreed, it's a shame they retired and closed up shop. Although, I can't blame them. I hope they have an enjoyable, relaxing retirement sipping mint julips on the porch while a pork shoulder cooks for 12 hours at 275° (135°C) in the smoker and watching their grandkids run around in the yard in the beautiful North Carolina mountains.

Still, it leaves a bit of a void in that fine detail market.

Edited to add: Do I know they have grandkids and slow cook on a smoker? No, but I know Woody lives in a little town in the hills outside Raleigh, NC and I'm an optimist. I like to imagine they live that idyllic country life.
