Not delivered, but still a few new things. Michaels had an extra sale for educators (Mrs. Bifford), 20% off the entire purchase instead of the standard 10%, plus an additional $5.

My favorite brushes are Princeton; they are not cheap, but not Series 7 expensive. So I picked up a few of those. I also got so Matte Varnish to try out. I like Dulcote from Testors, but it leaves a "bumpy" texture.



They also had some stuff on clearance, so I am trying the brush cleaner from Krud Kutter. I also found some strip weights for very cheap.

As always, ignore the super messy bench.

Good size basket of the necessary goodies.
I've used the Liquidex matte medium to make some wash and that went down very flat.
Winston and Newton matte varnish is very good if you can get it.
I checked your brushes out and your right not cheap. However if you look after them
do they retain a point for a good while ?

The detail is a lot better than the Roman figure!!

Chalk and cheese to my eye.
I find it is best to go with the sellers that are at at least 98% to have less problems.

Got some good tools there.
Shame they can't supply soft grip handles for the Swiss files. It would finish them off better. They do look good though with nice sharp cutting ridges.
What confuses me about diamond files is why do they wear out.....they are diamonds right ?? Somehow I don't think they are. I've worn out 3 or 4 and really need to get some more. Only lasting a year doesn't seem right.
I really will buy one of those pliers for forming circles one day.

Both sellers were Digger. I am thinking the Roman figure slipped the QC net as the feet are, frankly, an abortion and you know about the shield.
This one had a warped sword and scabbard but they were soaked in hot water then clamped flat on a board overnight. Nothing is missing detail wise.

I've had ones where the face is squashed and stuff like packs has loss of detail and it's all spikes. No fixing some of them.

They didn't have them in stock that day and I had a different brand of ink here that was supposed to be brown , but the mix has turned out to be a gunky gray. So I may have to go back next week and see if it is back in stock.

I sold more than I bought this week and the stash is minus a few.
I saw this Sherman with a few extra's like extra tracks and a figure. So I Sold off a Dragon Sherman I had and replaced it with this.
So the extra track and figure cost me $45 after I sold off the Dragon Sherman for 45 so I reckon I did Ok with the lot costing me 90, but outgoings of 45. I hope that properly confused one and all...

I received my order from down under.

Nothing to show at the moment, but I did order a couple train figures (engineers) for my current build and some 3D cockpit decals for the Tarhe copter build coming next. Photos when they arrive.

I saw one of these years ago and the price frightened me off so when I saw this one come up and I was all over it...


BNA just got these in and you know how the larger version just struggles a bit with the smaller sizes. I was always trying to fit the wire in between a marking and never making 2 exactly the same because of it. So a new tool is now at the bench


Somehow I figured it was going to be a little bigger. Only one thing seems a bit backward about it the plates in the larger version has springs to pop it apart. This one doesn't so you have to use something to pris the two plates apart.....bugger.

This Panhard armored car is really astonished with this big turret and thin armor plates, in Africa she did her job with a real accuracy .
And for the organisers ... do they float?!? I really don't know, sunk maybe?

A big deep discount sale opened up 2 weeks ago on Ammo/mig paints and the like. So like a guy who wants to save a little and spread the resources a little further. I bought this lot.
In my haste I did double up on a couple of sets I already had . So in order to really save I'm going to have to either build a tonne more or build a huge kit, but do I have the right kit...

I don't have the right shelf space for those giants.
Not I don't think it's a grand looking kit and while I could admire a Churchill too it too wouldn't make the list. I'm actually on the hunt for a AFV club 3 inch gun version. Whilst it never saw combat it does smack of desperation at that point in the war and it's for me a must have, but they are a bit hard to come bye. It seems everyone else must think the same as I and don't sell them or they were just unpopular and not many sold here. The shops don't carry them and while I can get them direct from China at $124 landed here it does seem a bit excessive when the LHS sell the other boxings in the $66-82 aud range. I do like the Churchills a lot, a very underrated tank and mainly cause the gun was a bit of a tiddler. So kind of understandable if you struggle against the bigger adversaries.

I probably won't do AK justice , but these 3rd gen paints are very nice on the brush. I think they must have added some type of flow aide to the formulation.

I am thinking the light earth is the base and then a top layer, often wiped away to give leather.
I do an acrylic tan layer and then either burnt umber oil for dark leather or ochre oil for light leather

Yep it's based on the Takom kit I built last year so should be familiar ground

Got this today from the Anderson Store. Been looking at them on eBay but they were silly money - then I got the email from the Anderson Store saying that they'd got some back in stock - so I got one of the last.

Picked this guy up while on a business trip to New Hampshire. This kit features a vehicle that has components made by the company that I work for! This hobby shop was just over the state line in Massachusetts, Hobby Emporium Inc. I had to get out of there FAST!
