They have been around for a while and as far as I know only do metal tracks. I'm not sure if they are still manufacturing.
They just use a bit of wire for the pin which looks ok on some tracks, but others where the tracks are large they do detract a little from the look and maybe proper track pins would look better. To me the casting looks a little rough for the scale and some links have a fair amount of thin flash. A little smoothing on the ground contact surfaces would improve them. However maybe that's just me as some quite like them.

Thanks Digger. Honestly never heard of these before. The Friuhl sets I used on the T-34 and Shilka used wire for the track pins. No flash though - its a shame he's closing down.
So I'm in the market for metal tracks for my family of Tigers.....

Hey digger, how does the M551A1 Sheridan look when you open the box? Do you know anyone who has built it and what they thought of the fit? I've been pondering this kit for quite some time. I've built the older Academy and original Tamiya ones a long time ago. They were both of the earlier (Vietnam) version.
I went to General Phillip Sheridan High School for my 9-12th grade education, which is named after the same person as the real recon vehicle and model kit.
Both models are now gone and I would like a newer kit with higher detail for the middle east version (and perhaps some metal track links). Here is a good review I found on the web of the RFM TTS version (good read):
https://archive.armorama.com/review/14832/index.htm
Ben

Sorry the pic isn't better, but it looks quite good. In some ways it shows that the earlier kits were pretty close to the mark as the differences seem small with just this one comparison.

Hey digger, your purchase and discussion had me pull the trigger on the RFM Sheridan. At the same time I also purchased some metal tracks for it. Photos once they arrive.

The modelling store made me buy some mixing balls. They also now have some bins of mini's that are unpainted. This mini only cost $2.99 USD, so it's actually a great deal to get some subjects to try new techniques.

I like that idea of bins of unpainted mini's.

I think the first one that was out after their demise by an alternate company

Seems strange that they fought with Hong Kong models over the Lancaster yet let this one slide through.

I knew I bought it a while ago..May21, 2021 to be specific in these threads. This was the info I wrote then:
The Meng kit is a Wing Nut Wing mould that Meng or Chinese affiliate was producing for WNW so was allowed to take to market as their own.
It looks pretty good and the styrene is similar in surface detail and quality feel as a WNW
Instructions are meh, but WNW ones were hard to follow just had nice colour photos in them
Ya so, looks like a solid kit

Nope - your eyesight is 20/20 - the SK version is a 2 seater. Usually a trainer.

And theres a 1/48 version in the post!!

Hey Tomcat (Neil), tell us more about your new figure source please?
Hey digger, my Sheridan kit and tracks arrived (yippie)
Those snap tracks look interesting and should add to the detail of the build. Speaking of detail, I may spring for the Eduard detail set too.
Did you look at the instructions for the build yet? They are kind of bonkers and will allow you to build either a standard A1 or TTS version. I remember these "scout vehicles" screaming down tank trails at Fort Carson, Colorado in 1979, at well over 40 mph. The cavalry scout unit that was part of the 4th ID had them.
On another note, I think Reyfiield and AFV Club are competing to see who can produce the largest parts count in extremely small pieces.
Still looking forward to this build too.

No I haven't looked at it yet. I still have this Centurion to build/paint and then I've got a Sopwith Camel to do after that I don't have anything lined up.
Your figure is superb.
If I build this Sheridan it will most likely be OOB for me unless I spring for some tracks.

Got these today from the veterans auction group on Farcebook:
Always like the look of the Stuka - went for the "Cannonvogel" version too but got outbid there.
And the King Tiger reminded of a dream I had when I as a lad of about 14 - relatives in the US sent me book called "Tiger" and I wanted to make a model of each version in the book.:
Tiger 1
Tiger II - King Tiger
Jagd Tiger
Tiger (P) Elephant
Sturm Tiger
So the King Tiger is a long overdue start in fulfilling that dream. Never built a Takom kit before so should be interesting - I just hope they aren't as dire as Amodel.....
Can you send me a link to that Facebook page?

I've still got another 4 big-ish Amodel kits in the stash. Nothing can be as bad as them. However bad Heller is it will be a relief after the Amodel ones. It would have to be something pretty damn special to ever touch another Amodel release once the stash is cleared....

Actually I have that primer in red and green sitting on my shelf too for a very long time now. I guess I should try it out after your problems have bought forward a issue.
That chain gun is a beaut buy for your kit. It will draw some admiration for sure when it's installed.

Another Bell this time by Revell and I immediately noticed that the manufacturing/ tooling/molds are markedly different with possibly less parts. My first impression is this isn't as sharp as the Academy, but I maybe mistaken once it builds up.

These turned up yesterday.
I thought this might look nice next to my Mossie......once I build it, but that's the plan.
It's a oldie from 2007, well not really that old. Things like the gunners mg could do with a better one.
Then there is this one which would make a good quirky Vietnam show piece.
I got this one with a bundle of other stuff that compliments it. Such as 3 resin tanker figures, barrel set, empty shells and a quick wheel masks. Not a bad deal for 80aud.
I may replace the tracks on this as the kit ones are supposed to be workable to actually assemble them is hard without knocking off the pins or I may just glue them all up.

OK, I admit it's not a model to assemble, instead it is a pre-assembled model. Regardless, I think it's a really nice 1/18 and I got it for less than half price too!

Made a stop by the model shop this afternoon.
In my frustration, I'm branching out to other primers. So I got a smattering. No Mr Hobby primer, but they had the thinner.
In a nice turn of events, the model shop is carrying the full line of Alclad II, which is awesome.

Love those German bombers and I've been wanted the kit since it got out. Quite big and lots of pieces ! I should look into it in a near future to order a few extras for it. Paint masks a must

And surely 3D decals for the cockpit to finally try that thing also. Torpedo maybe...
As for the Arma Hobby kits...well I've been wanted one from them as we only hear good stuff about them. I did not order the new 1/48 one, that is supposedly amazing, because it's on my Christmas list ! but they are suppose to be the best in 1/72 scale and when you look at the next pictures... you will understand why with the amazing details.

Really nice selection of nice kits.
Like you I've been really curious about these 1/72 kits from Arma too. So much so I've got a Hurricane on the way too and I never buy 1/72 so this was a major curiosity itch that I had to scratch. I paid for it on the 21st so it can't be too far away from being delivered by now.

you won't be disappointed !. Not my scale either. Only build 2 in that scale ; a small airfix one that was fun and got the mojo back and a Revell Ju88 that was awful

Hey it has arrived and without further wonder I cracked it open and inspected all 3 sprues...
It certainly doesn't disappoint with the level of detail there are a few mold lines which I guess is still to be expected, but they are noticeable at this scale. However it doesn't detract from the kit as they are fine and won't take much to level them.
