I wanted to try the dry brushing technique with the mule test bed and many of my brushes are FUBAR’d,

More Formula 1 Tamiya collection from me



This kit came from Japan and again it’s box and papers smell musty, mildew and mouldy like the seven up car did
You can see the white on the box isn’t crisp and clean, kind of mottled in areas.
So it has had a wipe down of bleach spray from a cloth and everything opened up and taken out to vent and sit in a sunny window for a while
Good news is kit has replacement Shunko decals that look good

Second arrival is a vinyl sticker of my spirit animal….Slow Poke Rodriguez


He is Speedy Gonzalez’s slower cousin

Did that kit come from Iwakuni? I saw this hobby store a couple years ago when I was there. Very musty inside as the outside hints at.

Always wanted to go to Japan and this pic jars some what. I had this preconceived idea that they as a people were a lot neater, tidy and nothing was allowed to look run down . Old yes, but not like this.
Still love the pic though.

Ah, didn't mean to discourage folks from Japan. 99.85% of the place was pristine! This spot was truly a one off of not looking immaculate. Japan is amazing, everything is very proper and polite. Even small school kids (I'd guess 4-7 year olds) took the train to school with no chaperones. An incredibly safe country. Really an amazing place.

Due to COVID considerations at the time I had to quarantine and didn't go to Kyoto or Osaka with my friends. When I finally could leave quarantine I went to Miyajima by myself and had a great time! Really cool aquarium with local fish and eels that I'm not used to (I'm from Texas, so it was very different and neat!) Miyajima felt a tiny bit touristy but there were way more locals than foreigners. I felt right at home. When I did find an English speaker we had really pleasant conversations and they mainly wanted to practice English with a native speaker. The street meat was also different and interesting.

Even with me speaking only a few words of Japanese I felt very welcome at most places. Really a great country. I think one of my most memorable memories was trying to drive on the wrong side of the road (for a US guy.)

Crikey a 1/18 Harrier even though it's a smallish plane...THAT'S big. You'll be able to go all out on the details and even install a working jet..

Been looking forward to this new tool, hoping it's going to be a good one. In the past I haven't been impressed with Trumpeter tools in 80% of cases.



It looks good being made from solid aluminium ( weighty ) and it is of a good size being 16cm in length. Has a rule etched into it ( very useful ) and a end stop. So we shall see.
