Aha ... it's time for the mud as I can see !
For me it's really tricky to do that cos I always tend to overdo the mud effect that I somethimes ruin the whole model ! How do you want do apply the color for the mud/dust? Do you plan on doing a wash on the texture after the regular paintwork?
Looking forward to see your progress mate and hope that you're staying safe during the storm ...

P.S hope your all taking care of each other this Christmas time, and that if any if you find yourself alone or isolated, get yourself out of the house and mingle with people, and always you remember you have friends here if you need anyone to talk too

Thank you Markus, It was something arisen by Norm on his Channel and just want to make sure all my mates here are ok and not in distress

for the weather, the plan is first give the area a little dusting of pigment, or if I'm brave enough I might the give the areas a light over spray of a buff/sand colour, also have some AK weathering washes with pigment for doing mud and dust, its in combination with the AK washes I'm really thinking of using with the texture as in past builds when I apply the wash on its own it can be a little flat if ya get me. Basically I'm gonna make it up as I go hahahaha

Give this a look for mud:

I used this to put the dark mud/drying mud/cow crap on my King Tiger's running gear and tracks. The brush/spray method works fantastically - and its fun spraying mud all over the place lol

But, and a big but (like, Rosie O'Donnell/Kim K sized but), do not overdo it...that's what I'm quickly learning when it comes to weathering effects.

This looks fantastic mate - and Merry Christmas. I shall toast your badass Stryker with a Christmas-time Guinness in its honor

Hiya All,

Hope you are all having a nice and pleasant Christmas Day and haven't eaten too much

wasnt too cold today and after a nice dinner I slipped out to the bench to get a little work done, haven't got too much to show you, but I started adding the stowage to the vehicle



thought I had more laying around in the spare box but for now this will have to do until I can order another set of Tami's modern equipment set



also added some traps and towels made form putty





Until I can find more items to put onto the vehicle to populate it somewhat I'm gonna turn my attention to wiring the headlights and that what not

till then

quick build update for yee

looking at my references online I noticed that the headlights have thick power cables which are too notable to ignore, so it was time to break out the lead wire and pin vice



after about hours worth of work I got a nice result and didn't require any swearing



the thin strip of tami tape is to represent the electrical tape the crew use to secure the wiring

That tiny piece of tape may be a simple little thing but the level of realism that it adds is huge!
That anti slip is looking really cool too buddy, well played. I believe Mr. Zaloga would be proud.
I've used his texture gel method a few times myself.
Nice work on the stowage as well, hand made tarps and unique stowage make all the difference with these vehicles.

Thanks for the kind words Micheal, I think it will take me a good few more builds to master the master's method's as my skill set isn't up to that standard
I'm using greenstuff for the traps normally I used Milliput but I'm liking greenstuffs quick work time but not its price lol

got the last of stowage done, I may throw in a MRE ration boxes in once everything is done but for now I'm happy



ran out of stuff to hang off the bin on the other side but hid that with some rolls and tarps




for the rear basket I added the tie down straps which are pretty noticeable on the real machine

thanks lads, I know webbing on the real machine is a little more complex but for the moment I'm happy with the result in future Stryker builds I will try to replicate it more accurately but this is when I work up the courage too

However over the Christmas last year I got myself a Airbrush which has taken the soul destroying process of painting this beast by hand out of the equation. The model was primed in Vallejo surface primer black. For the green of the vehicle I went for a brighter green rather than using Nato Green.

the base coat for the green was Model Air Cam Green, then to modulate/highlight the green I mixed some Model Air yellow ochre and spot highlighted the center of the panels

Hiya all hope the weekend is going well for yee,

quick update for yee

just started adding the markings to machine and detail painting the stowage, the decals in the kit aren't all that good and can sliver a little too easily for my liking but its beginning to take shape now and almost ready for the fun part the weathering


also note the subtle chipping and scratches visible in the lighter green on the side plates this took ages and hell of a lot swearing hahah


some deeper chips were added to areas of high fiction or exposure





also I wanted to experiment with added dust with my airbrush with buff coloured paint, though this is a well tested method it was the first time I tried it and was very happy with the end result

Very quick update to show share,

spent part of the evening working on the Remote Weapons Station and weathering it, am very happy with the end result, a lot of subtle pin & panel washes, micro shipping and dust effects (thinned sand paint sprayed through my AB) gave me a result very close to the reference pics I was inspired by
