Just joined this site, but I have been modeling off and on since I was a kid. I am from the U.S. (Virginia). I am currently working on the 1/200 Trumpeter USS Missouri with a full photo etch set. Anyways, figured I would show my work area while it was clean and not fully stocked with all my junk. I have always liked to see how people work, as there is always some great ideas amongst us all. Not shown (and off to the left), I have another bench with an airbrush booth for all of my spraying etc...

Tim Plastic where did you get your spray booth from just what I am looking for ??.

Well I had a bit of an update to the man cave today. After getting a couple of the DSPAIE cutting mats at SMW I decided I like black best...lol...

So ordered some new A1 mats and and A3 & A4 working mat from Amazon and having a move around....

Liking the new clean look and and have worked half way round the desks, finish off tomorrow













Just waiting on the new desk clips / mounts to add in the new LightCraft LED light.... have designed a special one to go through the bench / desktop so they can be installed and I can move them around

Having 4 of these made so I can drill a 20mm hold in the right places and fix with a 20mm conduit back nut...

Piffle.... I love that word, just about always makes me giggle a little

I just finished a new shelf design for my oil paints. Two shelves each hold 23 paints. I think my recent order puts me over 46 tubes, but I was limited on how big of a shelf I could cut.

How does it mount up??

I used a piece of 1/2" stock along the back. My original design used only 1/8" laser cut materials and it was too flimsy. The 1/2" piece along the back keeps everything nice and straight. It is also where it can be screwed to the wall.

Lee, That is some space you have there. Looks like you have kitted out the shed, that must have taken some effort getting it air tight and decked out. I have the dinning room table

I just got to move out of the living room on a small folding table. I am now in my office on an old folding table that I redid. Table was bad, and I drilled out the top and threw out the bowed water top and added a sheet of 1/2" plywood to make a working surface. The base is actually 48x18 so I just enlarged the top and sanded it down to work with. I have since made a brush holder and yesterday a paint shelf to put my paints on.
Here is my work area with both lamps. One is LED with a magnifier the other is a CF

This is my computer workstation. This monster desk my wife decided I needed to have as she did not want it ~ 15 years ago.
My laptop and 28" monitor where I do all my photoshop and photography work. Hidden from view is my blade server, four 4TB drives in a raid configuration.

Space looks great man
Just anticipate yourself expanding your modelling empire very soon and the entire room is taken over by modelling

I got some white led’s aoff Amazon and just provisionally taped them into my spray booth...they are bright as heck !

Im still in the process of drawing some modular workbench modules, like what Hobby Zone make, just custom, and will end up cheaper. Got some 3mm plywood for a steal, and I'll take my files and wood to a local shop that does laser cutting. Then I'll be done. For now. Until I run out of space. Or find myself with too much time on my hands.

I like how you organized those around the booth.
After your first filter, little hint....hammock furnace filter.
You just cut them to size and use the frame work of the original filter and its metal mesh as support

Cool! Thanks for that one. Those replacements are rather pricey $$

You can shorten the length but I don’t see how to join more once cut without soldering

Same with the set I got. Someone tried and they fried the lights

Most of the ones I've had have marks on the strip where you can cut them, and then solder them together. Depends on the type. But in general if you can identify how the led's are grouped you can separate those groups. But as Scott said, you'd have to get into soldering.

Where ever you can see these types of copper contacts in pairs, which normal manufacturers label, you can cut the strip to break it up, or solder together multiple strips. You just need to make sure your soldering iron is set to something below the surface temperature of the sun





This has 4 contacts as its an RGB strip and they are addressable so you can do funky things with it.

Yes thats the colors Red Green Blue, and addressable just means you can "address" the leds to get things like this going, forgive the background noise, i was watching one of my favourite Canadians.

I have the same strip type LEDs at my bench. As my soldering skills are pathetic, I chickened out and used an alternative. I bought LED connectors to connect the strips.
