As previously noted I thought the sport might get in my way this weekend. Well, my FW190 has sat unattended all weekend and is giving me a forlorn look every time I go into the kitchen.

But we beat the Aussies in the rugby so it can go suck it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Right now I'd marry Owen Farrell if I was 20 years younger and a woman!

I'll fall in love with the 190 again tomorrow and equilibrium will be restored. :cheers2:

Went down to Duxford today to have a look around the Sally B and have a poke around the newly reopened American museum. Interesting.

Almost there! Overslept baaadly on Saturday (despite no beer involved), so somehow the entire Saturday disappeared in an instant. I need a fourth layer on the cockpit floor after filing it a little. Apart from that, the cockpit is painted. And the pilot got two out of three intended colors. I also begun doing the wings. So all in all, a pretty ok weekend.

Well, alright I'll take care of them, but my SO has assured me that I've more than earned some cave time and once she she feels on the mend it's guaranteed, so that'll be nice. Finish the P-51 is all really want out of this weekend. It's a wee kit, I can do that...can't I?
Hahaha, I'm so much a Pollyanna sometimes... So no sooner than the toddler was on the mend, the baby became ill--again. Kids are such disease factories. So no, nothing really got done outside of some late night panel lining on the Garmillas destroyers. Sigh. And the in-laws are on their way soon, so what was at one time a 7 business day vacation (where I could wake up, make breakfast for the family, then retreat to my cave until dinner) has been reduced to two...

C'est la vie.

Happy Monday!

Hooray I am minutes from a four day weekend
Too much busyness at house build with full on insulators working like mad all weekend, so no floor screws or clean up likely for me
Soooo, that may mean some serious drinking and modelling possibilities and a lot of loafing about in the sun :cheers2:
Bugatti needs small details and exhaust and then she is done, so I might actually finish her by Monday : ??
Have a good weekend

Yeiks, the week passes on quickly! I guess that's an indication I love my job?

Anyway, this is probably be a non-building weekend. Haven't built much during the week either. But if I do get some bench-time, it'll be finishing the rear landing wheel of my Mosq, painting the final (?) layer on the lower wings so I can attach the transparent lights prior to assembly. I guess that'll be about what I'll have time for.

But I'll strive to add some photos to my build thread - I'm quite satisfied with how the instrument panel turned out.

Friday means last day of vacation...except for Saturday and Sunday, but I do actually want to spend time with the family so tomorrow is the last full day of solitude.

The 51 is close...so close...it's all I want to finish. Then I can turn to the GTi. If I can at least sort out the NMF--again--I can get it to gloss coat in time for my Sunday morning session and decal that thing.

Otherwise, parks with kiddo prime if it's nice out, LEGO and Thomas if it's rainy.

And pancakes. I'm making pancakes and bacon for breakfast three days in a row. Because reasons. Maybe I'll switch it up with waffles one day, we'll see. I'm a grown-up, I do what I want.

I miss those innocent years with the kids, watching kids shows and no news or adult stuff...like in your own separate world that is safe and good with everyone sharing and caring.
Then school comes along and reality bites, and it bites hard!
Enjoy these years man, they don't last long

My daughter now 24 said to me that one of her best memories was when on a Sunday morning. She and her Brother would climb into my bed one under each arm cuddling up watching the early morning cartoons. They were about 6and 4yrs at the time.

Sundays for me growing up were pancakes. Dad always made pancakes. I'm doing my best to preserve that tradition--but this weekend will be all pancakes just because I feel like it ;) (Today's were yummy, and the bacon was perfect, a rarity for me. Not perfect bacon--my bacon is always perfect for me--but bacon that everyone liked. No matter what someone wants their bacon crispier, or not so crispy, or burnt, or not burnt...today, everyone thought it was juuuuust right.)

Specifically, though, I want to keep the Sunday pancakes for the reason you stated, so they can look back on it someday and smile.

Got Jack planned for this weekend. Just been out for a meal with a friend of ours over from Oz. Mowed the lawn this afternoon while it was semi dry (torrential downpour this evening). Might go into town tomorrow to see the poppies from the Tower which are now at Lincoln castle. Got some FW190 work done today. Does anyone else slow down during the summer? I hate being inside if there's some sunshine so the modelling takes a bit of a back seat.

I did the pancake thing after tv AND apparently after many tries dad still makes the best pancakes...... much to mums disgust (we were divorced at the time)

The weekend got busy, as expected. But somehow, I actually completed the above, tried weathering the cockpit and assembled it as well! I'm quite pleased with how it turned out! :th: I'm still not a friend of Vallejo's paints - it behaves quite differently from the diluted Humbrols I've been using - but I'm slowly getting there.

I'm basking in reflected glory this weekend. England beat Australia in the rugby to take an unassailable lead 2-0 lead in the 3 match series.

What an achievement, what a performance!!! :jd:

Backs to the wall, our stout English Yoeman held off the Aussie hordes and departed the field of battle triumphant. A rope-a-dope that Ali himself would have been proud of.

My cup truly runneth over! Oh, and I finished off my 190 too :th:

Any time you can do all that AND relax is a win! Congrats.

Myself I ended my vacation with getting that P-51 close to being ready to consider being almost done. Sigh. But I also got loads of time with the kids rather than an hour or two before they go to bed so that's good.

Yay, Monday. Boo, grind.

Worked like a dog moving soffit wood out of garage and cleaning insulation crap off kitchen floors until well past midnight Saturday...and then the buggers didn't finish the job they were supposed to :bash:

Ruined my shifter and brake linkage soldering on the Bugatti and need to tear it apart
Worked on leather bonnet straps they look "meh"
STILL don't have a copy of Fine Scale Modeller and spent $60 on nuts, bolts and taps at LHS

Had my eyes checked and dilated this am 2 hr long appoint and has totally wreaked me for the day.
All of those who B about dental work, I would have a cleaning or dental freezing any day vs this damn eye dilation, light sensitivity, headaches.....SUCKS!
and I didn't really drink very much at all
Work begins Tuesday :eeek:

Yeah, no joke. I'll fit a dentist appointment in anywhere and go on about my day, but eye dilation I take a day. It sucks for me, too.

I absolutely hate the eye office, but it is a neccessity.
The vibe from their front is always a state of panic and they have minimal reception space to even sit down and wait. Always the push for upsales and in house purchases of glasses and contacts. I like the docs, but man hate the managed group office concept. Dentistry does the same now.

I have that scan as well, but it doesn't see the entire eye according to them.
Of course, this could be a "if we dilate, we can bill insurance" kind of thing as well. Healthcare is all about that

Even though I moved away from downtown Seattle I still see my dentist in my old office tower because he's not in a group like that, just him and a couple helpers and a receptionist/accountant. Good practices that are there to see clients and not upsell all the time are precious.

Ah yes, forget about the way it works over the pond. Don't have to worry about that here. Except for dentists funnily enough who are always trying to get you onto their private practice. Well mine does anyway. You have to pay for dental treatment in UK (unless you are pregnant, in full time education and a few other exceptions) which surprises a lot of folk from North America. I just paid £51 for a check up, x ray and filling (about $70) which is a bit scandalous I reckon.

I had that eye dilation test last year. It was a very dimly lit hospital so I didn't really notice anything until I left. The second I stepped out into the sunlight it was like someone had thrown a flash bang at me. Sod's law I picked the one sunny day per year we get here in the Midlands!

When I got home I looked in the mirror - man was that freaky. My eyes looked so weird it was like I could see into my head!

Thursday afternoon, the day before Midsummer's Eve, means leaving work early and that the weekend has officially begun. For once, sunny weather and temperatures up to 29C (!) is expected to complement the Swedish drinking of nubbe schnapps, dancing around the maypole, drinking more nubbe, eating pickled herring, more nubbe, and general drunkenness (preferably complemented by beer, to prevent the blood-level in the body's alcoholstream increasing too much), with good weather to complement Saturday's hangover.

Understandably, I expect this to be a non-building weekend. But just in case I'll get some inspiration, I'll work a little on the landingwheels and nose-cone of the Mosquito.

My weekend started yesterday so I went for a walk round one of the local nature reserves. Been to see the poppies at Lincoln castle today after I voted and did a couple of hours of work as in money earning work. It's really muggy here today, needs a good thunderstorm. Strip cleaned both my airbrushes last night. I like doing that for some reason. I've got primer on my FW190 and it's about ready for the main colours. Tomorrow I might go to Grimsby to the Fishing Heritage centre if the weather looks OK although I might go to Donny market instead as the whim takes me.

Ok, last few straggler patients before a short weekend....supposed to be rainy anyways.
One kid has finished his school year other has a week left.
Model wise, I have to re-do the Bugatti's shift and brake lever connections as I broke my soldering by over tightening. That will not be easy, but i will figure it out. Not much luck on the figure for the Bug and I need to just make the darn leather straps and be done with it. A bit of over-analysis-paralysis.

As for the house, it is major cleanup from a week of insulators, painters and fireplace guys making a mess. I want to scrape off and vacuum up spray foam overspray on my subfloor so that it doesn't end up in the air handling system later. Some areas they didn't protective cover first so it is like walking on little bumps of foamy sandpaper and it is actually slippery too. Have to clean all the bits of wood, insulation and garbage on three floors that a week's worth of slobs can make in your house. I am hyper reactive on m skin to fiberglass insulation, so might have to break out my StayPuff Man outfit again.
Good to have busy crews at the house , so I won't complain. Mess=work done

Well I've got most of the cam on the 190, it's a complicated one with those little fuzzy bits on it, forget what they are called now. Just been into Lincoln, it's seven minutes away on the train and we came back first class for nowt (length of local platform issues) which was unusual! Only ones in the carriage. Got the barbie out but it's tonking it down at the minute. Will paint a bit more plastic I think.

Yeah, hardly any time last weekend. Though I had a couple issues to fix with the Mustang I decided that the only way to finish on time was to press on. It's gloss coated and we'll see if I can decal and wash it by Thursday.

I am celebrating both Canada Day July1st and July 4th for the Yanks. How you may ask??Well by doing my last thousand floor screws and insulating house walls. How is THAT for a party!!??
Modelling, well maybe. I have been sitting at my desk fondling random kits over the last week with little Bugatti motivation unfortunately.
Hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend

Mixed bag this weekend, it's a holiday weekend so it's a long one, but it's also full of stuff. I think I'll try to get my decals on the poor Mustang and finish it off. If I can get any extra time, then the sci-fi build could get some attention.

Otherwise beer and hot dogs and low grade explosives aren't the worst way to be unable to sit at the bench on a sunny weekend :)
