Substitute 'wife' for 'mum' and yeah, been there mate. As a younger modeler, the only response I got when trying to impress her was to be told, 'watch your posture' as she saw me hunched over the latest bit of awesomeness on the bench!

She tolerated the hobby and I loved her for it.

I'm getting that same comment now...suck in ya stomach stand up straight....But I fear 62 yrs of misalignment isn't going to straighten up just like that. I think I need a steel rod tech screwed to my spine.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology!

Mine just saw the latest bill from Arma for the Mi-24V and - just a few - "extras". The eruption would have put Vesuvius or Mt St Helen to shame..... (OK it was over £150 but even so...... )

Best not to show them the statements , I'd never model again if she knew how much I spend every month.

Stealth technology has nothing on us modellers sneaking yet another expensive piece of model making goody into the house unnoticed!

That is flipping hilarious and soooooo true

Ok it's not strictly modelling-related but there's plenty of us that can relate to this one!

You also have to make the old man groaning noises of standing up or sitting down
I catch myself doing it all the time now

Me too, the missus had a go concerning it.....made all sorts funny remarks and mimes.
UNTIL I caught her doing it too.......

I resemble this.

Describes me perfectly.

I have put on a fair bit of lockdown weight and my stamina has virtually disappeared. There's warning lights a plenty whenever I do anything more than pass a fart!

And me
Had to go for HazMat training yesterday - Amazon insist we do it once a year, this was the 3rd time for me and I've only been there a year. So I got sat in a nice warm meeting room - and promptly fell asleep!! Trainer wasn't amused (understandably I guess) and made me take the on-line test in front of the rest of the class. His face was a picture when the result screen showed a 100% pass for me.
Didn't have the heart to tell him I'd also gone through HazMat training with both Fords and the Army. Compared to either of those Amazons version is kiddie steps!!

I unashamedly stole this from FB

I remember something similar on a work training session a few years back, the trainer had that "special" droning monotone and it was the session after lunch... I could feel myself nodding off and knew there was nothing I could do about... until I was woken by my mate sitting next to me snoring

We had our Covid Boosters & flu jabs yesterday and definitely feeling like this one today...

Brilliant. And I agree with the kid. I have that kit and Tamiya's new tool Easy 8. I know which one will hit the bench first!

Seems modeling humour extends to the far east too. A recent buy order included this card.

Going to need some good decal solutions for that one!

I believe in domestic harmony. I do exactly what my wife tells me to do! Lol.

If I want to live dangerously I disagree with her now and again! Lol.

Shamelessly nicked off t'interweb but for anyone planning on building a shuttle in the future...
