1. BMW taillight assembly rewired as the ground wire overheats, burns out and shorts so you don’t have any rear lighting. It is a well known long history problem with bmw lights.
I lasted driving around like that for a week and would have to wait another week for my service appt to even look at it.
$137 in parts and less than an hour’s work, fixed.
The dealer wanted $200 just to look at it and I have heard $600-800 to do what I just did to repair it. Brutal.
A little google/youtube search and guys have the issues nailed down and walk you through the repair. Easy money saved.

2. Replaced the clear thin plastic sheet on the 3D printer as somebody put the corner of a scraper through the other one
Simple task and the printer is re-zeroed to home and ready to run.

3. Pool maintenance. Have a 12x12 pool for the 30* weather and have to keep the chlorine and water levels right and strain out stuff

4. Project for my sister…a free little library.
She wants this box with a door, shelf and a roof. They stick them on a post and people give and take books. She has done tons for us especially hand me downs to the kids so no reason to say no.
Also she didn’t have any dimensions or conceived plans so I got some on the net and went at it on how I thought it should be done with recycled materials.

Plywood box with shelf and angled roof sealed with titanium roofing stuff from our house.
Still need the metal roof sheathing but awaiting a tool to arrive for cutting that.
Now working on the door which is left over maple baseboards that I saved from an office demolish a few years ago.

I am using my little Grex compressor and airbrush with the largest paint cup to spray the Spar coating on it. Waiting for the first coat to dry before a second spray. Works great and I will use this method to refinish our front door soon.

This will be the third Sunday night we go golf twilight together at a local course where my son works. Been a lot of fun and every time there are more laughs and less squabbles. I bought some LED lit balls to use on the late holes. When hit the light turns on for 8 minutes

I've found that just about everything is detailed on youtube in a DIY setting (unless it's against their terms of service.) Glad you fixed up the car and saved $$$.

That project looks like fun. Good cause too! :th:

That's a busy weekend. Great result with the car nothing like saving a buck or two and a good deed for your sister too...lovely.
My pool has a ring of black green alge and it's bitch to get rid of. I've put in 4 bottles of the right stuff and it's still hanging in there. That's with me scrubbing with that brush as well.
:cheers2:

I have kept on top of the chlorine much better this year. Mind you a 12x12 above ground is nothing compared to maintaining your pool
The water was reading 30* last week and this weekend was 25*. It is noticeably much colder and you can feel the drop in temps at night and morning already starting as summer thinks about turning to autumn

I've been attacking my shelf queens and I've done as much as I want to to these two kits. No real weathering pin washes or the like. I tried a little colour modulation on the KV-1 without over doing it. Somehow the camera highlights it a lot more than my eyesight. .....I thought it was more subtle until I took a pic. Damn it's back on the shelf now for good.....

I've got my stukka to finish now, but I'm having a bugger of a time colour matching as the paint was mixed with Tamiya ( don't remember the mix) and now I've only got Mr Hobby gunze. 29 tries and non are quiet right and I don't really want to repaint the whole plane... :wall: :wall: :wall: I must keep a diary in future....I've said that a million times before one day I'll learn.

No idea what the pool temp is.....too cold for swimming, but our temps have been going from 4-23 Celsius and everything in between has slowed down algae growth a lot.

Ok, This weekend, I will get back on track. I am saying it out loud; perhaps that will get my ass in gear. I have several kits in progress:
Kit% Complete
Alby DV.V45%
Sopwith Camel90%
BSG Viper Mk.II25%
Porsche 911 GT275%
Some are for group builds long since closed, and others are just kits. My hobby area is almost back to normal after a significant rearrangement. My airbrush hood is now venting outside, so hopefully, no more complaints about lacquer paint stinking up the house.

I'm having the weekend off although it hasn't started well ending up at the wrong airport and then couldn't find the proper car park 😂🙄

I don't travel well......something always goes wrong
On the way back they changed the departure gate after issuing my boarding pass.....ok coped with that ok after double checking my pass and not understanding.... it all came together. Got on the right plane then sat on the tarmac while security went through the luggage hunting for a possible bomb. Seems someone checked their bag in and didn't get on the plane. Never mind us getting blown up and sitting patiently for a hour.
Arrived back in Perth behind schedule, delayed us 10min from leaving the aircraft another 40min to get our bags, 15 min for the bus to get me to my car which wouldn't start cause this fool left the inside light on. It then started to rain and it was another hour waiting for the Car club to arrive and give me a jump start. Another slight hiccup getting out of the car park because I prepaid online with the up shot being I didn't start home until 6.15pm with it pouring almost the entire time, but I was a little peeved and damn well determined  to get home tonight which saw me awake and alert for most of the way arriving home 11.15pm

Absolutely nothing this weekend. Just too hot. I finish shift at Amazon on a Saturday normally getting home around 21:00 after a 14 hr plus day (the 2hr each way commute is a killer) so Sundays I rarely surface till about mid-day. Then after lunch SWMBO decided we were taking Maggie Dog down to the sea front - there are some places we can park where she gets out of the car onto the grass so her paws don't get fried. Must admit it was one of SWMBO better ideas as there was a lovely sea breeze and all 3 of us sat on the grass promenade eating ice cream.

Next weekend will also be dead - I'm going to a HEMA moot up in Reading to spend a weekend bashing away and being bashed with swords, daggers, polearms and - if all that fails - feet & fists according to the 14th C manual of Fiore dei Libre. :)

Oh this is shaping up to be a great weekend
One more work day and then I am ‘off’ until September 6th. Still some bills and paperwork and likely some emergencies to deal with though.

I picked up the box for my mini lathe today…stock photo of my package
Image
Only poked my nose inside, lots of little boxes with parts and screws and stuff so need a good clean place to set her up
That means a garage clean up and some new cabinets/ desks in there
Paint here for the Budweiser boat so will push on to move that build forward

Small trip to ski hill Monday to look at condo construction and do some appliance and furniture stuff.
And rum. Lots of rum.

Sorry to hear that. Hope you're okay. It seems lately that if people have been vaccinated against Covid it has 'milder' affects. Hopefully this is the case. Mine was like a bad headcold-headache,aches and tiredness. Drink plenty fluids and take paracetamol (if not allergic to it) More importantly - get well soon and stay safe

So after a "fun" week, although not as "fun" as Stokesy I'm looking forward to a 3-day weekend. Mrs Tomcat is working tomorrow & Monday morning so I'm hoping to get some time in the den to maybe get Lancelot finished & the Draken moved along a bit as well.

We also have a steam train due through on the main line tomorrow so will being going to chase that now that my car is back from three days in the workshop getting the Exhaust Gas Recycling unit repaired... didn't know such a thing existed until it broke!

Oh and the ice hockey club is having their annual season launch barbecue on Sunday so we'll be there for that too :)

Hoping your on the trail of wellness today Stockesy.
My goal is get myself out of the dog house....never goes well to remind the other of statements said and even worse to try to take them at there word. Despite my ethos of a mans word is his bond and never make a promise you can't keep. Doesn't work well with the significant other.... :violin:

Going to get a bit of trellis replaced out front and get a bit of this memorial build with the A-10 done before I pack it away again.

:cheers2:

Ps....like to keep the list manageable

Been a bit late coming but here's a look from the top of world upside down at Sydney.
My daughter is actually scared of heights and won't go near the edge and we had to wait until the people had moved far enough away and off the platform between girders before we made a run at them....I was impressed with her determination.

Same shot I know, but you get to see more background.

Now back to business, what I hope to achieve. Well I got to work on the air con up fixing a water leak in it, replaced the pads and it's now up to spec. Although the water leak was a typical farmer hack. A big blob of that quick steel product. The two pack stuff that you have to knead together until it turns all black and pack it on. It's good stuff sets like a rock and sticks like pooh to a blanket and it can be used under water. I should mention it wasn't a pipe it was the water reservoir...evaporative type
On the modeling front I'm still whittling away at the Kettenkrad and I'd dearly like to get some primer on, but that is still a bit unknown when I can start that process. I'm hoping today , but it is probably a forlorn hope.
cheers all. Hoping to see a post from DW too..... :D
:cheers2:

How cool is that?

Its not just about bits of plastic. This is a place where you meet people and become friends. How awesome in this day and age!

Now what excuse can I come up with to travel to Canada..... I could swing by BC on my way to Andy's Hobby HQ in Arizona, its only a little out of the way.

My wife and I both agreed that this visit was the highlight of our trip. The hospitality shown by you and your family was a amazing gift that will never be forgotten.

Well I didn't get as much modeling done as I hoped and I only got half of it primed.
This weekend I'm here alone as the missus has to work night shift for the next 3 days. I still might not get much done, but I hope too make some progress.
:cheers2:

well....my goal for the weekend would be to find time to finally finish the paint job of my never-ending project...my Pfalz !! Been battling huge gaps to fill for a while and don't have much time at hand having too much work and most of the time being too tired after my day. I find little time while my lunch break. Not much left to finally put on a gloss coat and go on to the decals, markings and the dreaded rigging. But this weekend still have a lot on the plate with my poker night with my friends, hiking with the missus on Saturday and dinner at a restaurant. And all the chores that are left to prepare for winter. Even had our first snow 2 week ago !! :wall: Didn't stay on the ground but still... mid-october !!!!

Sounds like you've got Buckley's chance of getting much done. You might as well focus on relaxing and enjoying the weekend and friends.

Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos Matt. We just came back from a vacation in Florida. It was planned for nearly half a year and just happened to take place the week after hurricane Iain. Lucky for us we stayed in central Florida where the hurricane and had minimal effect. When we were leaving Florida on out return flight home the departure desk in the terminal indicate we were leaving sunny Florida currently at 78 degrees (F) and will be arriving in Port Columbus where it is currently 35 degrees (F).

For this weekend my accomplishments will hopefully include assisting two marching bands in their season finale half time performances at a local football game on Friday. Saturday I will be helping to set up a early evening bonfire service at our church where I will be performing with the praise band before the main service. Saturday will be a repeat of Saturday evenings performance except it will be in the sanctuary for around 500 people. Somewhere in there I would also like to post an update to my Arado AR196 build and get the remainder of the fuselage buttoned up and prepared for primer.

Wish you all well....

Ben / DRUMS01
