So far that camo is looking pretty damn fine Frans!
I've seen that brush that you're getting up close and personal, I've also been using the H&S Evo Silverline 2 in 1 for months now... You won't be disappointed bud.
It's the brush of brushes!
Pencil lines... and that's no crap... as thin as a pencil line.

Thanks Coen :D

Got the infinity delivered today and gave it a try. Wow... that's a whole other experience mate. :thumb2:
Pencil lines indeed. So I gave it a go on the camouflage, and you can see the result in the upcoming update.
Got to say, need some practice with the infinity, but the camo did came out great

Hi guys!
Finished painting the camouflage today, and gave her a first brown wash:

A brown filter:

And this is what I got so far.
Now, I want to do the oil dot technique for fading the colours, but I forgot if I should do that before or after applying a wash.:
If someone knows, I'll appreciate it :thumb2:

Back at the Marder today :thumb2:
Started fading colours with the oil dot technique.
First time ever!

Image

And after streaking the colours down with thinner, this is the result. Hope I did a good job on it...

Image

Added the decals, so that I can start weathering this Marder.

Image

Did a light chipping job, and a light dry-brush.

Image

Image

A lot of work is needed, the interior need to be painted and weathered, streaking and a pinwash, and a second dry-brush to tone down the parts that are too light. Detail painting is also needed.
But I will keep posting the progress guys!
Thanks for tuning in :cheers2:

nice job until now! may i ask you a question? did you dilute the oil paint a bit with white spirit before you addet the dots? the tip of the brush should also be moistened with white spirit. the dots seem so undiluted on the pic! if they are pure undiluted color there is the risk of adding too much oil color and you'll have problems to remove the excess paint and the colors set in every corner and replace the wash and the fading is too strong! but the results look very good so i guess you knew exactly what to do :D :cheers2:

Hi Andre!
Thank you :thumb2:
Yes, it's diluted a bit.. Could not get the oil onto my brush without diluting it.
Also The brush was damped. The white colour in the edges that are visible in the pic, is a too strong dry-brushing.
But that will be solved by adding a pinwash.
But I think by applying the dots I used a bit to much white. But The result is looking good so far :D

I just caught up with your build Frans, ... magnificent!
She's a hell of a piece. You did such a spectacular job on that camo.
The filters and the washes brought it together perfectly. I agree with you about the drybrushing though.
I can't wait to see the interior all dressed up.

I was a bit to enthusiastic with my drybrushing I guess
Solving that tomorrow :thumb2:
I'm like this model a lot so far. All effort detailing it really pays off when painting it.
Made a small start on the interior, but there's a lot to do. Taking my time for this. :th:

No need to rush. You're the PE king... :)
The interior is going to be the most weathered and require the most care I think.
As they say, slow and steady wins the race.
In the end though it will look incredible.

Thanks for all compliments guys, it keeps a modeller going :thumb2:

Today I started to paint and weather the fighting compartment.
I chipped the paint and I gave it a interior wash from AK.
Started some detail painting too.
The leather straps on the ammo racks were a real pain in the
Still a lot of work to be done, I need to add cables to the radio, streaking grime and more detail painting.

Image

Image

Had a old wire in my scrap box, thought it would look nice on the fender.

Image

I did not had a purpose for the 2 hooks on the side armour, (could not find on google were those were for) so I decided to hang a rusty chain on it. Looks cool to me! :th:

Image

So I give it a good overnight dry, and start on streaking the vehicle soon.
Thanks guys and happy modelling! :cheers2:

Hello guys!
Welcome to another update from this MarderIII!

There are some things now I did for the first time with weathering this vehicle, so bare with me..
I hope I could make it as realistic as possible!

First up: The muzzle break.
I tried to give it some soot and a used look.
I did this by painting it flat black, then clear brown and a light brush with bare metal pigment.

Image

Next I painted some more details at the fighting compartment.
The seats are repainted with darker leather, for I find the red leather not correct and stand out to much.
Then I gave them a dark wash and a dry- brush.
The radio has more details painted, and will receive some wires soon.

Image

Rainmarks/streaking grime

This I never done before to. I tested it on a old piece of plastic and that worked out fine, so I gave it a go.
Tried not to apply to much, and take time to do this carefully. I hope I did a good job on it, and made it as realistic as possible. Any comments are welcome!
Here are the pics:

Image

Image

Image

Image

As you could see on the last pic, I painted the exhaust too.
This was simply done by painting it light brown, and with the paint still wet, I applied "old rust" pigment. When that dried, I gave it a sweep with "standard rust" pigment to give it some more colour.
The end of the exhaust pipe is simply drybrushed black to simulate soot.

Image

Also the towing cable at the back is added.

Image

And here's were we stand now:

Image

Image

So far this update gentleman. I hope I did a decent job
Thanks for tuning in, and all comments and tips are welcome!

:cheers2: :cheers2:

Sublime!
Frans, it was perfect. Now it's perfect plus two.
The only thing I'd add is crew, but that's because I always add them, and I'm a looney.
Exactly the right amount of weathering bud.
Congratulations.

Thanks Coen :D
was a little worried for I did not now if I did a good job on this, but now I can die a happy modeler :thumb2:
I'm planning on adding 2 or 3 crew members, all smoking a sigaret. ..
I always try to add a figure, is a good way to show the scale of the model!
Cheers buddy :cheers2:
